Love dmc
It’s just the doubled up fuel dumping, you can see the 2 nozzles on the other tornado
Dmc is such a great series
I know but do you see that it’s non the same? Here I highlighted the variation in brightness
But in in this the flame is more yellow and mode uniform
You may be right but that was the only picture I could find where the fuel dump was alight
Now that you point it out they do kinda look like flares
This is a dump, not a dump and burn. I will search for other imagines so maybe we can understand
Yeah I said I knew it was a dump and I was looking for the pictures of the burn and that was the easiest one to find
I looked at the “dump” photo and I found out it’s a temporary overpressure caused by the switch off of the afterburners
Source: Tornado reheat (and fuel dumping) - The Aviationist
That may just be the F Mk 2 bc this is definitely fuel dumping
Could be different systems on different models
Actually, that has nothing to do with the fuel dump, as the Tornado’s jettison outlet is located at the top rear of the fin. Instead, it is reheat drain: when reheat is cancelled, there’s a temporary overpressure caused by unburnt fuel (accumulated in the jet pipe, upstream of the nozzles, after being injested by the fuel injectors when the Afterburner ignitor is no longer functioning) that is automatically relieved by venting some 30 Kg (66 Lbs) of fuel through valves located underneath the jet pipe.
This is the explanation of the guy who wrote the article
Alrighty, but in theory that is in the right space to be used for a very short temporary dump and burn as seen here
So not really viable just a temporary burn, thanks for the info.
Yes viable for a temporary bump and burn
