The Dev Server is Opening with Major Update “Tusk Force”! — Now CLOSED

To be fair, to reload the gun irl you have to be outside the vehicle

No? It is reloaded through a hatch over the loader. Look it up instead of repeating the same misunderstanding.

About 12 seconds if the gun is located in the forward position. Could be made 15 if they didn’t want to treat it the same as everything else though to account for positioning.

Ive only seen the vid of the soldier reloading it from the outside so thats where i got it from, besides not like it matters reload is a balancing factor. Its why we have the silly sturmtiger

Fair enough, just an infuriating misunderstanding on account of how many yanks push this claim to say it shouldn’t be improved.

Eh im iffy on it, i have it and its silly but i wouldn’t use it. Ill say given its armor its pretty much almost invulnerable to vehicles at its BR but given the range and weakness of just shooting the barrel id say it could probably get a reload buff but give it too much and it could be basically unkillable on some cap points where you have to just swarm it

whats ETA on update ?

my guess is this week tuesday. If thats the case we will get an announcement later today ~in 18 hours or sth

second dev server closed ?

the dev closed last Friday

I love that your commander can say “point blank” for targets outside of your max range

This would make it so much more workable if every call out wasn’t “point blank”.

Hes not used to melee fighting apparently

TL;DR

“Bofors VEAK 40 & Lvkv m/42 use the wrong ammo (850 m/s instead of 1000+ m/s), making them underperforming SPAAs instead of true anti-aircraft platforms. Fixing this removes ahistorical SAP-HEI and restores historical SPAA role.” And please vote on the poll below:

The Bofors VEAK and Bofors Lvkv m/42 were first introduced in Update 1.97 ‘Viking Fury’ (2020)

Yet instead of the proper L/70 ammunition the same high-velocity rounds used on vehicles like the AMX-13 DCA 40 and Leopard 40/70 with muzzle velocities of 1000+ m/s. They are still incorrectly firing rounds from the much older Bofors L/60 gun. This mistake cripples their performance, leaving them with only 850 m/s muzzle velocity.

image

These vehicles have been stuck with the wrong ammunition for half a decade, consistently underperforming compared to their peers. The AMX-13 DCA 40 and Leopard 40/70 show how high-velocity 40 mm rounds should behave, and the VEAK 40 is meant to be in the same league.

And the irony couldn’t be greater: Sweden, the very nation that invented the 40 mm Bofors gun is the only one in-game where it’s not just slightly off, but completely incorrect. If anything highlights how overdue this fix is, it’s that.

Crucially, these vehicles are not struggling against tanks. Their role has always been as SPAAs, not dedicated AT platforms. Correcting the ammunition would finally remove the ahistorical SAP-HEI rounds currently available to the VEAK 40 and Lvkv m/42, which falsely pushed them toward anti-tank play. Instead, this change would make them the true anti-aircraft vehicles they were historically designed to be.

It is worth noting that the VEAK 40 did have access to APDS, but its inclusion is highly questionable; with ~120 mm of penetration at 100 m on flat armor, it is debatable whether such a round would ever appear in-game. Regardless, the main priority should be correcting the core SPAA ammunition.

At this point, I’m on my hands and knees begging: please, fix this. I’m even praying to the mighty snail for just a little attention to finally resolve it. All the data and resources have already been provided; I truly hope there’s a second dev server and that this long-standing issue will at last be corrected.

  • APDS

Technical manual for the Lvkv m/42
Confirms the gun is the 40 mm Lvakan m/48 (L/70) with a velocity of 1000 m/s.

Lvkv 42 W Radar
From the same Bofors VEAK 40 literature (Pansar magazine, 2011):

“One of the two built Lvkv m/42s was used for the testing of the VEAK’s radar.”

Since the Lvkv m/42 was used in the VEAK 40’s development, it is safe to say both used the same core ammunition types—except for APDS, which was developed later and therefore unlikely to have been fired by the Lvkv m/42.

I think im gunna spend more time with the NF Mosquitto in ASB than I will with the Hornet .

Though I am looking forward to the Hunter F6/Harrier GR1 and the innevetiable “SRAAM TOO OP!” threads. Ive got extra popcorn ready

Im happy for more mossies, they just dont quite fit my preferred way to fly. may take them as my secondary plane to GRB matches tho.

I cant wait to comment “skill issue” under every SRAAM cope post knowing damn well if they are within 2km and have no flares theres nothing they could have done no matter what
