Im somewhat expecting it to come alongside 5th gens, rather than specifically alongside “equivalent” missiles.
Its a good way to keep the Euro-Deltas relevant in the 5th gen meta. Though the question is exactly which should get it.
AESA Typhoon is a given.
Rafale, probably a new one, leave the current 2 alone at their current performance
The question is Sweden. They could ideally do with a second Gripen E but there isnt really a clean option for that.

There is no question about whether Sweden should get the Meteor, as they were the first country to enter them into service.
As for 5th gens, currently only USA, Russia, Israel(?) and China have any in service, and there aren’t any plans for a european 5th gen. There are a couple projects being worked on, but they are for 6th gens, and are years away from even prototypes being developed and tested. I’m not sure how Gaijin would implement 5th gens, but knowing them, in certainly wont be balanced…

Didnt say that, but where Germany, Britain and Italy have the M-Scan Typhoons to remain to fill that hole at 14.3/14.7, with the AESA Typhoons ready to go and be moved up and France has the Rafale CF3 with the option of the F4 yet to be added that would be ideal with the Meteor. Sweden has… the F-18. Not really on par and nothing above it.
So what they could really do with is a Gripen E at 14.3 with C5s and a Gripen E at X BR with Meteor. Rather than just moving the Gripen E up and leaving a hole.
F-35, basically everyone bar Germany can get one of those, even Sweden via Norway and Denmark and soon Finland. But yes, there will be heavy overlap between 4.5s and 5th gens which is why the 4.5s probably need something… extra.
So… nothing new then.

Realistically we all already know what will happen, they’ll add the correct Gripen E model in call it the late or MS21 to try and sound different and slap us with yet another non foldered aircraft with the difference being missiles, what’s this like the 5th time? We’re the only nation getting screwed this much with things like this, this often.

Even if Meteor is added at the same time the most likely thing to happen is gaijin adds another C&P Gripen with 1 new mod and so you need to spend time grinding a new Gripen, grinding your mods again just to have meteor and still be at a disadvantage because gaijin will just give the Typhoons dual Meteor racks because why not.
It’s a lose lose outcome regardless.

Best outcome is this,
New Gripen is added and takes the current Gripens place at 14.3 both Gripens swap models with 6002 being the new Gripen at 14.3 and foldered under the old Gripen which is given a new model and added with Meteor and placed .7 below the Typhoon/Rafale if they get their dual missile racks for some reason. If they don’t then .3 below them.
Essentially new Gripen isn’t end of line and thus can be foldered, will they do it? No but it would have reduced RP initially and not gate keep Sweden from having new Fox 3 like every other time they did this.
You could argue MS20 Gripen C could be added at 14.3 alongside 6002 given the differences in performance but that full depends on Meteor being good or not, if it’s treated like 120 it’ll be pretty DOA. Could also add ESTL in exchange for one Meteor but I think they can be fitted to the outer wingtip pylons

Unlikely, we’ve already seen the Gripen D without missiles and with worse flight performance is already the worst Gripen in game with about a .6 KD, NG simply can’t be added as it would be added far to high in BR to be competitive especially with gaijins track record for Gripens being sloppy at best…
Unfortunately any chance for the NG to do something has basically died out and with Japan and Italy both begging to get the Gripen E there’s even less room for the NG to have any sort of competitive BR with things below it and above it being better in nearly every regard.

Perhaps the other option is to move the Gripen E up and “replace it” with the Gripen NG at 14.0/14.3

?no that makes no sense gaijin already has exactly the perfect thing they would do, just add another copy and paste Gripen E with the correct model. Or without, it could go either way
The NG will likely be some sort of premium and or event vehicle if I had to guess. Though depends on feedback I’d say the NG realistically doesn’t have a place in warthunder.
The D is overtiered slop and can’t go down even though it’s a worse C.10 with more CMs and 2 IR missiles.
At the end of the day the NG might have had a chance to be added but much like many other vehicles from Sweden the game is too compressed and these vehicles would just be hell to balance.
It’s like the XT or MK.66 neither can be added because of their loadouts not without gimping them and then they lose their value. Besides gaijin could always just pull another two seater Gripen and add the F model but again it’s not what’s needed and we get back into the problem that two seater Gripens are made for training first and foremost
I have a feeling that Meteor was a Russian missile it would have been added years ago, irregardless of any negative impacs on the meta.
