yes, AIM-9Ms are still used today on modern aircraft for live fire practice against drones, the only thing that limits backwards compatibility is the connecter pin count which is what that black dangly bit on the AIM-9s are
Sort of, the F-14D and AV-8B lack a HMD; no idea what the AH-1W would lack, or if it wasn’t transitioned to the AH-1Z for service purposes, as the -1Z began replacing the -1W in service in late 2010(last AH-1W Unit was moved to the -1Z in 2020). So there is a good chance as the USMC had the -9X reach IOC in early 2004 so there is a significant overlap of about 5 and a half years there.
Apparently it is THE sparrowwinder but due to people using sparrow winder for any sparrow sidewinder hybrid specific details are impossible to find these days, do you know any specs of it?
There aren’t any super-good sources on this. There are some relatively indirect references, but frankly, the gaming rocket lives up to them. At least, I haven’t seen any comparative tests that would definitively prove this.
