Misunderstanding. I thought you were talking about this.
when will AIM-9X Block II come to warthunder
Tommorow, if not, read this message again.
Looks like aim9x is getting a blk3 and blk4 upgrade and also aim260 has been finally shown. Btw this was revealed on Feb 11th
Isn’t that also the first official image of AIM-260?
Yes it is
Found some more info about the 9x blk3 an blk4 upgrades. Looks like it 9x received or is receiving a new 6th gen seeker and new high preforming mortar

This is a poor misreading of the source. You’re talking about early flares with a dual band FM seeker threat. The 9L was a single band FM seeker and was going up against broader band flares. That source also has errors. GAR-4A is AIM-4G, a nitrogen cooled InSb detector of a fundamentally different design from the nitrogen cooled AM PbS seeker of 9G.
There are also a lot of comments in this thread that take tests and evaluations and extrapolate them to absolutes. Missiles are not the perfect things games present them as, and even if an evaluation states that they were not able to get a 9L to be decoyed if it was locked onto the plume, that does not mean that this is always the case, but rather it was the case in their certain scenario.
New report is live.
Implementing “Sidewinder Expanded Acquisition Mode” (SEAM)
It impacts many potential aircraft, which should improve SRM Acquisition speeds, I’ll follow it with it’s counterpart for the increased Field of Regard while Slaved shortly.
Report:
F-16AM MLU ability to slave AIM-9 and FCR to TGP and vice versa:

I imagine many other planes should have a similar capability …
any chance of those being implemented this update ?
i noticed that the PL-5EII was changed from 30 to 35G before its introduction in the game.
Holy sh*t they nerfed the IRCCM of the AIM-9M and AIM-9L/I really hard with the new patch today. It goes for missiles and flares from front aspect now instantly when fired from the target plane and is unable to lock a target if a flare is just remotely close to it (lock drifts into nowhere instantly so you have to relock). It now feels more like a R-73 just even worse as it can’t even follow a flaring target in rear aspect (most likely because of the much bigger FoV).
Ive seen this happening on all IRCCM missiles this patch not just the 9M
I think its probably a bug for the moment (although i wouldnt be surprised if gaijin nerfed it either)
This sounds like how Aim-9Ms have been since day one.
I have never considered it to have all-aspect IRCCM only rear-aspect IRCCM and the flare rejection has always preventing you from locking if there is anything hot close to the target
I’ve got my AAM-3 fooled in rear aspect from higher alt on MiG-29 that has fired R-27ET. I’m not sure if that could happen before the Major, but it is really bad.
AFAIK it’s an extremly large difference. The AIM-9M had seeker shutoff, flare-rejection and IOG, so before you had to fool it by letting it get close, flare and evade (to delay its course correction due to seeker shutoff and switching to IOG). Currently it behaves like it has none of those, locking onto fired munitions and flares from the target plane instantly (even doing extremly sharp turns). Before the patch it was never ever going for flares, only for the locked on target plane. Now even a single flare or missile fools it and even scrambles its lock-on.
Edit:
According to this Dev Post on Steam there also seem to be issues with guidance, so I guess they’re aware of the problem.
Edit 2:
So they hopefully fixed it now.
Edit 3:
Nope, not fixed. Lock-on still drifts into nirvana and sometimes refuses to lock on all together (was unable to lock onto a Su-27 from behind at less than 3 km distance).
The issue that I’ve been running into is that my 9ms won’t turn. In both situations, the missile would just fly past them and not even turn; it’s like a slight tap to their rudder is enough to fool the missile, and it won’t hit.
