Wasn’t Israel also investing into something like this? I believe it was with an AIM-9G front end but regardless, it would be a fun one to see.

Yep, it would actually be a decent counterpart to the R-27T if it were added.

It may have been, I do not recall. I do know that there were AIM-7 variants with IR or combined IR + SARH seeker based on the AIM-7P.

I thought it because photo was made before 7F production and 7F is not certified to be suspended under F-4s wing while that AIM-7T was.

Looks like aim9x is getting a blk3 and blk4 upgrade and also aim260 has been finally shown. Btw this was revealed on Feb 11th

Found some more info about the 9x blk3 an blk4 upgrades. Looks like it 9x received or is receiving a new 6th gen seeker and new high preforming mortar

This is a poor misreading of the source. You’re talking about early flares with a dual band FM seeker threat. The 9L was a single band FM seeker and was going up against broader band flares. That source also has errors. GAR-4A is AIM-4G, a nitrogen cooled InSb detector of a fundamentally different design from the nitrogen cooled AM PbS seeker of 9G.
There are also a lot of comments in this thread that take tests and evaluations and extrapolate them to absolutes. Missiles are not the perfect things games present them as, and even if an evaluation states that they were not able to get a 9L to be decoyed if it was locked onto the plume, that does not mean that this is always the case, but rather it was the case in their certain scenario.
