The a-10a early's 2 sidewinder problem

Yeah, I often fail when I get goaded into trying to follow those… ;-)

Only thing you can do is realize your error in time, nose down, dive as fast as possible and try to force the opponent back into your world - the tree tops…

Btw that’s something I notice often, is that people tend to generally fly very high in the Warthogs (even in Sim)!

Best defense is always not getting spotted, so hugging the ground is a healthy way to do that.

Also, while certainly not good at all in the vertical, in the horizontal few aircraft will be able to turn-fight you: While you can circle as much as you want, those fast movers often underestimate the energy they loose while battling you, and maneuver kills are not uncommon in the A-10. The smart ones of course then chose to take the fight into the vertical - that’s when one must not be tempted…

Btw - as I keep repeating - the Warthog is excellent in Sim. AB and RB however completely take out the ground hugging tactic the A-10’s would best use to defend themselves, and having to fight in the “single big furball hell” that is AB and RB doesn’t help either… = /

I usually fly in at like 2-3km just because i need alt for the secondary weapons. Though there are a lot of times where it allows me to be above a fight and i can nose down to fire a surprise missile.

That and the high chance of one team dying so fast you have no time to do anything.

The most fun one is running CAS, getting an EC map and nothing spawns.

At least the nuke event had enemies to CAS…

RB or SB?

In Sim, it depends a bit on the map. Often there is no ground battle event the first 15 minutes or so.

As I interpret my observations, it depends also on cap zones being capped, and new events only spawning after a zone has been capped - so if no one bothers to cap, no ground battle: I’ve had matches where I left after 45 minutes being on station with a fully armed Warthog, with not a single ground battle spawning.

For me it works best for the Warthogs if I look for session in Denmark, Sinai and Vietnam that have been running at least 10 minutes, but max one hour or so. That gives me the highest probability of getting a match with Ground Battles. Also - one nice feature of sim - you can enter a session, check the team and the current map and situation, then can still decide if you want to spawn or leave again to check another session…

…which is silly, I find, and not motivating the Sim community at all.

Should be easy to implement that there is always at least one ground battle event going on, when one is over (or targets fall below a certain percentage) another should be triggered.

ARB getting an EC map pull on the list doesn’t spawn the front line units to destroy all the time

That and how slow the plane is for such a large map where everyone just flies away from me fuels me with rage.

The largest maps are 128x128km. Even with a slow bird like the A-10 you can cover half the map’s length in not much more than 5 minutes.

But yes, with such a map you’re even at a larger disadvantage in the A-10 in AB/RB…

A-10C is so broken there…

Problem I have with the A-10C in Sim is that you need to be the first Warthog in the air and en route to a ground battle, which you then clean out in one or two runs with SDB’s.

Whoever comes next has no targets left until a new ground battle event respawns…

true, it’s a shame that sim battles are the way they are.

Last time I played it was just after MiG-25’s addition, tried hunting them down at alt for fun (almost got one)

Hehe, I got one or two when the got added: As the A-10 must not try to fight up high, the Foxbat must not try to fight down low.

Nomen est omen: Warthog is best in the mud, the Foxbat in the clouds…

i like to bully A-10C players by reducing their target count in my Tornado GR.4. gets 6 targets off the map right away and then once i’m out of gun ammo they’re only now releasing bombs
