isn’t the rocket computer itself fine, just problems once you set an SPI or use the APKWS?
Yeah it can, if the enemy is a complete dimwit.
The A-10 is simply too slow and clunky to actually win a 1v1.
It has literally no say in how the fight goes and is completely reliant on the enemy being dumb enough to try turnfighting at high speed where it’ll just cut inside the circle.
Slow, yes. Clunky, no.
It has really good turning and handling at its speeds.
If they want to bnz, then you dodge and punish. The 30mm does well for that kind of stuff.
The thing is that you have to get good at defensive flying.
if there’s any half sentient player bothering you in a fighter, you either instantly die or you never get a chance to punish because they’re out of your firing range by the time you get a solution
Nah, anytime I think I’ve died in the A-10 it’s because I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t flare or just let someone get on top of me.
Tbh, A-10 is actually good in dogfight, especially at its BR, Since most player never tend to go vertical with it, it can easily get enough kills, the gun is easy to aim as well,
Had similar results with A-10A late as well (I got 6 or 5 kill max with it though in air rb)
Yes, its clunky
Big, slow and unmanouverable.
Any fighter with braincells turns the A-10 into a pile of burning scrap metal without breaking a sweat.
It’s a dedicated strike plane, not built to fight aircraft
What? Have you never used it?
It turns quite well and is pretty smooth.
Its biggest concerns are aim7p and r27r.
Outside of that, you can avoid most other things.
Yes I have
I even did a couple duels with it to try out how well it can dogfight
The answer is: it can’t
Nope
Try setting an SPI on the A-10C at a distance, the rocket reticle becomes frozen until you get within ~2-4km.
A-10A early/late don’t have this issue.
I pilot the A-10 a bit and I’ll agree with @MiGoon_Fox-3 it only defeats mouthbreathers in dogfights.
You aren’t fast enough to catch anyone, they can just leave. You can single flare the missile. For some reason in ARB people think you should headon the A10, in most cases they’re right but they are gambling on the a10 pilot being dumb.
Anyone who willfully enters a 1 circle fight with an a-10 couldn’t fog a mirror.
Go vertical and watch the a10 bleed all it’s speed if they try following.
Fighting the A10 on it’s terms is like seeing a mouse trap and thinking dang I want that cheese and then trying to grab it.

A-10 can’t really do much to flareless planes, either.
while yes, you have to respect the threat, every flareless plane any of the A-10s can face can opt to just, as you said it, leave. what’s the A-10 gonna do? fire a way out of range AIM-9L? spray their gun from 10 kilometers? the A-10 has a top speed of two kilometers an hour, have fun chasing around the slowest flareless plane you can face: the Yak-38, which still has a top speed 2 to 3 times higher than yours
the fighter dictates the fight, that’s the entire reason they’re called that. flares be damned, A-10 isn’t doing anything when i flank it from above in my flareless crusader and shove a magic through the tail when the mouth breather flying the thing doesn’t even know i exist yet.
Even if the A-10 doesn’t follow, it’s just too fat and slow to avoid the guns when the enemy goes for them again.
Or catch up if they decide to just, leave
the A-10 can jink, but that’s not gonna do much when jinking only moves your plane a whole three meters in a different direction because your turn radius is the size of a mini cooper
and the plane is really large
it’s not much bigger than something like a phantom, the only problem is the wingspan.
now, normally, losing 50% of that wingspan isn’t a terrible issue for the A-10. the issue starts, however, when that wing comes off while its loaded. wing comes off during a maneuver? spin. wing comes off when flying straight? no biggie, just hope the fighter leaves so you can limp your way back to base and inevitably still die if you don’t leave the match because you’re flying a weather balloon at low altitude in a world of supersonic aircraft
It’s crazy maneuverable.
not enough to outmaneuver the wall of 20mm you’ll be receiving after you think you’re any match for a fighter ever at all
compared to a B-17 sure
Literally any fighter? I hope you’re joking.
I suggest learning how to play the game if you think it actually wins against a competent pilot in a fighter.
They are gonna have to survive the 30mm gun I instantly whipped around and got on them.
I think its a question of context.
Because I can think of a lot of fighters that would really struggle actually going toe to toe with an A-10, at low alt, at A-10 speeds.
But then its on said fighters for being dumb enough to go that low and slow and stay in a sustained fight vs the A-10 rather than peeling off and coming round for another go.
