T72 GMC - A Predecessor to Jackson

Interesting, thanks for the info

Form what I’ve seen, it was a pre production batch of I think 5 made so far m not sure if it would be.

There were two different T26E4 pilots, and 25 standardized production model T26E4’s made.

The first pilot had the distinct gun mount with the hydropneumatic equilibrator outside the turret, and used one-piece ammunition. It was the one shipped over seas and up-armored, which we have in-game.

The second pilot had the equilibrator on the inside of the turret and used two-piece ammunition.

All the subsequent production models used an improved one-piece ammunition design and had an internal hydropneumatic equilibrator.

So the model in-game is a unique one-off prototype.

The SU-100P is also a prototype.

No. It was a limited production run. Accepted into service on the 26th of February 1955. I believe only something like 50 were built before the production order was stopped.

I think your thinking of a different tank.

Im talking about this one.

Only 1 was built in the late 40’s.

Yes. I’m talking about that exact SPG.

They don’t mention exact production numbers. Only that, outside of the first prototype built in 1949, a batch of 14 vehicles were made for troop trials in 1955 (and also the improved SU-100PM prototype from 1958). But I know I’ve heard something like 50 were produced. Though an exact number may not be known. The project wasn’t cancelled until 1958.

I’ve got the pdf for the book if you want.

*According to Yuri Pasholok, 4 prototypes, 10 pilots and 14 production models were built, totaling 28 vehicles. Though in context of this conversation, only the 14 production models are relevant.
