Watching them fuck up the mantlet changes and then go balls to the wall saying that’s what they intended so they don’t have to change anything for the next couple months. As it’s not a bug, it’s intended that way and we’ll change it when we want.
Yea the 400mm thick rotor being cast steel and only providing 200mm when their OWN FUCKING material modifiers against kinetic ammo is something like x0.95 for cast steel. The devs that write stats are literally a joke. By their own metrics it should provide 380mm of armor.
Not including the 30mm of steel at 60, the flat 30mm, the 60mm rha and finally the 50mm plate behind the breach…… and all that adds up to 70 in some places.
I know im necroing a bit here, but I noticed the T-80UDs armor is actually correctly performing as of June 1st 2024 at 570 KE With longrod including K-5. Incredible. Now for them to fix the other 13 tanks. Lmao
Is it possible that this is correct? Because if so, the T-80 UD should have better armor than the other T-80s, instead of being inferior, and even then, with the armor it uses in the game, it would be that of the later T-80 U, so it would be better, possibly because of the air gap in between.

The T-80UD is a T-80U with T-64-esque elements, not T-72. It’s as if Malyshev had a second try with the T-64, except this time was actually successful.
It should just be a 1986 hull with a 1987 turret.
The T-80U uses a hull from 1985. The T-80UD’s is a 1986 pattern hull, which featured a small air gap just in front of the middle plate in the hull. All it did was sacrifice slight steel thickness for increased effectiveness against DU shaped charges of the time.
It’s a legitimate change in the vehicle. Again, T-80U is a 1985 hull. T-80UD is 1986, which lessened plate thickness in favor of higher CE effectiveness.
Please, if we get it good armor i might actually get it
The armour of the T-80UD is definitely worse on the hull compared to the T-80U, this is also a sizeable difference as 3BM60, the round being tested, cannot penetrate the T-80U but can comfortably penetrate the T-80UD.
I’m no Russian expert outside of the SU-39, I’m not sure whether this is accurate or not but you tell me.
If the image I posted is real, the UD should be better than the U, since it is a more modern armor, and I refuse to believe that a more modern armor is inferior to an older one.
It’s realistic, IRL it would have had a huge impact on shaped charges and was specifically changed to combat depleted uranium liners on shaped charges, as that gap in the hull armor allowed for cooling of the penetrator.
The image you posted is decent, but it’s quite simplistic and only tells to be a reference. AW has some of the most in-depth tank research, even going as far as 3D scanning rare prototypes to implement to the game. I would trust them more than BTVT.
What about the turret protection then? I checked the values for the T-80UD and they’re exactly the same as the T-80U.
No clue, I don’t know much about the '87 turret
