T-55 am has some of the stupiest crappy dogwater apfsds around, without having any other redeeiming qualities. The armor ““composite”” is basically just a scam, mobility is average at best, non existent gun depression

T-55AM/AMD < STRV-103, T-55M. Apparently. Also saying the up-armored T-55 has similar armor and mobility to the base M60 is… one of the opinions of all time.
I agree, bit awkward, the matchmaking got a bit confunsing to me, I can’t find downtier holes or so, but personally I don’t care, France still strong, AMX-30 Super still strong,
And battle rating 9.3 to battle rating 9.7 vehicles is ruling in downtier matches because the vehicles they fight are completely useless but we also got some spare souls like the Object 685 which I prefer over the T-55AM-1/AMD-1 even before the battle rating changes, good mobility, same weapon in trade of armor.
Magachs are no base M60 they got era, you’re talking like T-55am has some stalinium unbreakable armor but it can be lolpenned anywhere by apfsds rounds

Oh yes. How i love my Blazer ERA capable of providing 5mm of KE protection.
The reason T55AM was uptiered is because it absolutely dominated 7.7-8.3 tanks. And, i for one, am glad for this change. There was nothing more infuriating then facing 4 of these in an unstabilized AMX-30 that had to aim for small-ish weakpoints while it could lolpen me anywhere.

Are you serious? Amx-30b2 gun can go through the T-55 hull like butter, if you’re talking about the amx-30 at 8.0 well since it fires heat it will have just as much as trouble going through M60s ERA.
And remember M60 and even Centurions/ Strv104 all have better firepower than the T-55am1, while being 8.7. Are they overpowered? No? Lol

I kinda understand why the T55’s wernt to 9.0 even if they now suck in uptiers, blame that on the compression, but I really, really, really don’t understand how they can put the OBJ 435 on at the same BR as the T62 M1 which has better apfsds rounds even if they share the same gun, composite armor, more depression and a laser rangefinder…
The whole game needs a major decompression, the 6.7 decompression they made a couple years ago just compressed 8.0+ even more so they basically just moved the problem instead of actually adressing it.

The armour was not a scam against a lot of vehicles that rely on HEAT-FS for reliability like the Type 74C, Type 69, the base M60, Leopard I and more. The AM-1/AMD were the most oppressive 8.7s in a full downtier thanks to just about everything that would counter it being moved to 9.0 (other than the Chieftains and RISE P, but these are not common tanks at all, and if your answer to 7.7-8.0 tanks against these things is learn to aim: learn to aim against 9.3+ then).

They don’t have bad mobility at all, idk whether it’s ground pressure shenanigans or the shorter gear ratios but they can generally keep up with the rest of the 2nd gen MBTs even with a much worse HP/t ratio. I don’t think there’s enough of a performance gap between the ZTZ88s and the 55AM to warrant a lower BR. And the better reload does give it a niche against the T-62M-1 which is otherwise better for handling uptiers thanks to a much better round.
I don’t disagree with the 55AM/D being 9.0 even with 3BM25 being one of the worst rounds here. Object 435 going to 9.0 is hilarious. The only reason I can think of for it is; it’s a “better” T-62 even though the T-62 is horrible and should probably be 8.3.

exactly my thoughts.
Learn to aim 9.3, ok…already faced 9.3 before and was a pain in the a… , but problem is that these are going against 10.0 now, which is total BS IMO. A T-55am now is just 0.3 lower than a T-72m1, which probaly deserves 9.7 together with the T-72a
Yes, up tiers suck.
Now imagine how bad it was being in a un unstabilised, should shot firing tank against them. While you’re doing that, imagine being in a centurion mk3 where your round shattered with alarming frequency on the dammed things because of armour bugs.
They dominated an entire br bracket for far too long. As always, it’s better for a few tanks to have a bit rougher time than dominating an entire br bracket.

an AMX30-B2 Yes. I wasnt reffering to APFSDS slingers tho. Those will have no problems. I was reffering to tanks that do not have access to a good enough APDS/FS. The reason why i didnt see much of a problem with ERA (like the blazer for example) is because you ussually have a good enough APDS round that can go throught the ERA but not the Composite armor (except for the french). And those poor suckers that are stuck with HEAT/FS only have it worst and im afraid there isnt much we can do to help those. As they are as opressive in downtiers as they are opressed in uptiers.
Decompression would be preferable overall. But this was probably the next best thing.
