Syrian StuG III G: Germans in the Golan

I would agree with both of your opinions here. I do think this vehicle and others from Syria would be better placed in a Arab tree of sorts, but for the time being and with no such tree in sight I’d like to see this vehicle given to the Soviets if Gaijin wanted to add it right now.

Somewhat relevant:

Normally you see Syrian Panzers with Czech mounts for DShKs, so it’s interesting that they can also take the same Italian 12.7mm as mounted on the StuG in this suggestion.

Russia does NOT need a copy paste Stug

Unfortunately the suggestion for it could use some work, even considering actual armored vehicles there’s still a lot missing.

So Gaijin can put you on the same side as Israel ? : )

You want Syrian vehicles somewhere else then I presume? Because currently the two we already have are in the Russian tree.

They could simply not add it.

+1 as rank II, BR 4.0 premium for Israel.

Maybe you don’t want this vehicle, but I assure you that others do, so it’s only natural to look for a place where this and other Syrian vehicles can be placed in the future.

That would certainly be controversial to say the least.

Then just add non-copy paste Syrian vehicles.

Like… this one?

I said non-copy paste, not copy paste

What is this StuG a copy paste of?

Why not? It’s a captured vehicle tested by the IDF. A really large amount of those was captured, they even considered using them.

Well that’s if we’re adding it under the premise of being a captured vehicle, this suggestion (and what I prefer) is for it to be added under the Syrian flag.

The reason I suggested Italy for this is because it offers an alternative, neutral location for it. Italy also gave Syria a number of AFVs and planes after WWII, which is how they got the Breda-SAFAT machine guns in the first place. I feel like that’d be the best option out of all the currently available trees, but Germany would also work, given that it is a StuG.

Honestly after scouting the internet I was not able to find a single picture confirming that the Pz IV in Syria were equipped with a DShK. There are plenty of photos with the Czech turret mounts, however no photos of them mounting a DShK.

There is a photo from Zaloga’s book, however the shape of that MG looks very unusual for a DShK.

Have you got any other photos? I might do a suggestion on it.

The Syrians also operated The Hummel Sd.Kfz. 165 mounted with an Italian Breda 12.7mm SAFAT machine gun.
