Syrian National Flag

That article is just speculation, officials confirmed that new Syria is aiming to have good relations with all countries, many delegations were sent to Russia since the liberation, even military delegations. But I am not going to discuss Syria’s public relations as it isn’t very relevant here, in my prior reply I said it opens the chance, so time will tell.

It definitely would be an issue, since these were procured during the Ba’ath era, even if it still is in use by the new Syrian forces. If Iraq had their T-72M1 as a tank in-game, would it make sense to have it with the modern Iraqi flag in their stat card, or the Ba’ath-era one? The Ba’ath-era one would make more sense since it was procured in that time period. You can have the flag in the game I don’t mind, but replacing the flag on vehicle stat cards and removing the older Ba’ath flag decal should not happen.

its arguable, I can’t say your opinion is invalid, nor mine is.

I agree with you about historical accuracy,
but I mean the decals — specifically the world flags — the flag here needs to be changed.

Yes and No. I would love to see the flag added to the game, but not “updated”. It would be really great to have the option of using both the flag of Baathist and present-day Syria, as vehicles used by both entities are in the game.

Well no because the new Syria needs Russia as a counter-balance against Israel. This new country ain’t going to stand on its own, they need Russia to mediate with Israel if there’s a crisis.

+1 for the addition of the new flag, replacement would be anti-historical.

[+] basically because Russian machinery is the most affordable, and they also need spare parts for inherited from BAATH Syria AFVs/Aircraft (the ones that survived neighbor’s airstrikes). The fate of 80% of TURMSes (in service at 2024) is still uncertain, by the way. And only 1 or 2 Su-22 survived.

Add kurdistan to that

Indeed some Syrian vehicles had that flag when they are being operated. Granted there still yet to see a Syrian vehicle that had that flag (e.g: The Syrian G.55’s, Syrian Panzer IV’s & Stugs).

However it shouldn’t replace the Ba’athist flag either, even if the flag in question is A: actually the flag of the United Arab Republic. A union between Egypt, Syria, Sudan and was supposed to have North Yemen and Palestine to join in the Union as well later on until the project fell apart after the Syrian coup in 1961 and it’s eventual dissolvement a decade later. The Ba’athists in Syria adopted the flag as their own. And B: a controversial flag with a lot of historical & ideological baggage to it

For a few patches, maybe unintentionally, or for the sake of “harmonization”, Gaijin attempted to change two-star (point A) UAR / post-1980 SAR flag with the three-star one (1963-1971), attributed to sovereign Syria that have left the political union with Egypt.

That’s anachronic, because the only two syrian vehicles in the game entered in service in SAF much later, during SAR (1980-2024) era.

If they want to change in-game decal flag with 1928 flag version, let them do it, as there are only current country flags, and keeping the 1958 / 1980 one would be really strange.
Regarding tech tree and vehicle IDs, the situation is different -the 1928 flag shall be added in the case such tanks / planes […] will be added in the sub-nation of Syria respectively.

1928 / 2024 nor 1958 / 1980 flags are controversial, at least historically, because both belonged to sovereign, independent and unitary entities, no matter Syrian state in any period of its existence (1930-present) faced political unrest, foreign interventions, separatist movements or ethnic tensions (contrary to what @IAHMADI means by “return to a symbol of unity and independence”), and weren’t used by really accused in mass crimes against humanity / recognised internationally as extremist regimes like Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Taliban Afghan, etc. ; but they were associated to distinct rival parts of the Syrian civil war and their allies. The victorious part unvariably will outlaw and remove the symbolics associated to its enemy, and supporters will do.

-1 for me because removing the Ba’ath syrian flag would undermind it’s historical involvment in the Arab Israeli wars, if they add it as a seperate yes sure but its removal hell no, especially on Vehicles since we have a soviet flag on soviet tanks and jets but a russian flag on more modern tanks and jets, same goes for germany, south africa and some others.
