Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

Do you know of any other example with 1.1?

Seems like people always assume 1.05

For example, MiG listed 1500 kph for MiG-29SMT

In the game it gets 1575

Which is a 1.05 multiplier
So it seems quite inconsistent to use 1.1 for Flankers

19710-180(pilot)-165kg (AKU-470)-140kg(ammo gun)-80kg(CM)-30kg(oil)-5kg (C2H5OH)-2 kg (Oxygen)

Yeah, I think I also assumed too low of a weight for gun ammo … I used projectile mass rather than the whole round

Out of curiosity what is the ethanol used for?

Probably as coolant.

I hope so

How much does Bars weigh?

Not exactly a high quality source regarding Bars but the only one I saw with weight listed

Russia’s Arms and Technologies. The XXI Century Encyclopedia. Vol. 10 - Aircraft armament and avionics - Энциклопедия Оружие и технологии России. XXI век. Том 10 - Авиационное вооружение и авионика

Ain’t this Irbis? Should weigh similarly anyways. Probably a wee bit heavier

No, the source is just old so it’s not that accurate as I mentioned …

Actually curious how Gaijin measure Empty weight. I assume it’s Specification Manufacturer’s Empty Weight which includes avionics and engines. So the difference is probably other stuff including maybe the hardpoints without the actual pylons (the one currently modeled ingame with clean config) so bbcrf number’s are close and the 278kg discrepancy is probably for extra hard points

BTW anyone experiencing their Su-30 not automatically opening their drogue chute?

No, it’s not “Empty.”!
On the example of the MiG-29B…
m (sn) _ weight of a loaded aircraft prepared for a specific mission, kg, consisting of the weight of an empty aircraft, the crew with flight equipment and ammunition for the gun, the operational equipment of the aircraft, liquids and gases consumed to ensure flight, as well as the mass of oil and unused fuel…
m (sn) is taken from Table 2.2.1
If during operation, as a result of rework or during further production, there is a change in the components of the weight of the equipped aircraft, they must be taken into account in accordance with the logbook data and the technical description of the aircraft…

Imo the problem its not that the plane its heavy. Its that has become stupidly hard to move above match speed. Its hard to even pull 8g on that thing when moving too fast. That contradice everything about TVC or even Canards. I won’t mind the thing feel underpower/heavy. But it fly like a brick.

Bars is really heavy at 650. Irbis is around 450-500.

i dont have proof but i feel like it is missing thrust (you cant tell me they switched the fuel and made the flame burn hotter while keeping the exact same amount of thrust)

you can see it here barely loosing any altitude (if not climbing), if i were to try this in warthunder i would just fall out of the air( even with min fuel), or wouldnt be able to keep the nose stable

I feel it’s due to broken TVC or canards, but without improved engines it’ll naturally be worse than the og flanker (for bfm)…

Yeah, I wouldn’t trust Gaijin’s TVC control to be optimal …

Especially given how TVC on missiles behaves …

Just want to post here how much better the flanker is compared to the F-18 for low speed high ADD flying lol.

Irl or in game? Rn the f18 in game is much better than flanker at sub 400 kph

IRL the F-18 will begin to lose control at around 35 degrees AOA. It is also limited to 7G

Maybe you Russian players could nerf the Hornet wink wink…
