Cause you need an IR lock to shoot a missile?
oh i thought you meant an hms ir hardlock
but even then pretty much every jet in that bracket has hmd/hms
I mean it’s also there to give you range data
Yes, but like I said, BLUFOR players gets complacent with being up in space flinging ARH
That is not what the response to that report says, but I will test his numbers when I get home. Half the time I read these I feel like it’s people trying to do it with mouse aim, or dampening on because they can’t control it in Manual.
trust me,
a tgp with thermals is a thousand times more useful than only having the irst
From what I’ve been reading seems like the ranging capability is greatly exaggerated … It should be only a few kilometers … Essentially for a gun solution for the most part …
Yes OLS should only be limited to 6km at most afaik? Gaijin is just probably too lazy to model that
that goes for every irst (that can range) ingame
I think it’s because it’s supposed to me more integrated with the radar as an FCS package, instead of a one or the other like we get
Well, radar ranging kinda negates the “stealth” advantages
It adds extra lines of code, and that cost productive hours they could use to copy paste the next Leopard 2 in game you know
MB linke the wrong one
there are two that have a nearly identical name

There is good utility in being able to lock a target in IR, and then wait until you are in effective R-77 range, hit the IRST/Radar swap , and quickly fire an R-77. It gives minimum reaction time to your target. Yet another reason to like the R-77.
It would be less one sided if TGPs could do the same, like they should be able to
BTW, I could be mistaken but I don’t think that IRST ('s laser rangefinder) triggers the laser warning system of the planes that have one …
or more f-16 variants
thats what we need
nope
only the laser on tgps (ingame atleast)
It doesn’t in game
Which is a problem (unrealistic advantage for IRST against modern planes)
tgp also only gives laser warning when you launch/drop something laser guided afaik
(not 100% sure tho)
