Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

Imo the Su-35 and su30sm2 with Irbis e might be able to deal with their western 4th gen counterparts which do not have super low RCS, things will look grim when 5th gen get introduced tho.

The Egyptian Rafale tests against the Su-35 are complete nonsense

Like I said, the Su-35 allegedly gets straight up bricked by a rafale’s EW. Like, unusable. Im not sure if it had the Irbis E in the egyptian tests, nor am i sure if the claims are true, just like im not sure if the claims the chinese didnt like the radar are true either. I think itll be fine in-game, and gaijin will likely massage it in some way to make it work regardless, I just dont see much that the russian jets will be able to actually have an advantage in vs western counterparts, nor the chinese ones tbh, though theyll never have to face chinese jets.

Yes, I agree.People still continue to believe in a fictional world

They’re mad I pointed out the rage bait and now the people who proclaim to have me blocked are spam reporting my comments. Hilarious.

There is this, of course there are other issues with the FM as well that we need to figure out. Basic dimensional data for the airframe is incorrect as BBCRF has shown us.

The Flanker’s flight model is an unquestionable error, and I don’t know why there was a quarrel over it, let alone why anyone would want to stop the effort to fix the Flanker. Is it because it affects his ability to play the game? That’s all? It’s too selfish.

Really? I’d love to see this.

That is just incorrect? Lmao

They’d need to fix everything across the board to fix the flankers since it’s just broken across the board no matter how you look at it.

It has terrible situational awareness since its radar scan pattern is wrong and takes it something like 8 seconds to complete a scan. Its BVR capabilities are bottom tier since they don’t model the drag on supersonic R-77’s properly. The missiles only have any kind of edge over their opponents at close ranges, but it has a flight model that’s so gimped that it DESPERATELY wants to avoid close range encounters. It’s just pathetic and I’m surprised that gaijin has gone so long doing nothing about any of it. It’s just a sick joke. I can fly the flanker and make a supersonic launch of an R-77 rear aspect at a target 10km away from me and the missile will fall out of the air before it can catch the target. Then I can fly the harrier and just roll my face on the keyboard and slap someone several km straight above me while I’m hovering and flying slightly backwards on the deck for the “can’t lock a stationary harrier” memes. And yet the significantly more potent harrier has a much lower BR for some reason.

The SU-34 SHOULD fix the BVR component of the flankers

It will have a better radar, which will certainly help with the problem of the plane being blind relative to its opponents. However it won’t fix the R-77, and R-27ER’s aren’t serious competitors against spamraams. And “27ER stealth launchers” are a bad meme.

Can you post a replay of this if it happens? I need some comedy to watch.

Do you know under which tree version the SU-34 will fall under, will it come after the SM3 or will it come after the SU-24 branch?

After the Su-24 for sure.

Ahh that means I have to research that tree branch, I focused too much on the mig-29, su-27 and su-25 branches, now I have to focus on the old mig-27 branch far right one.

You should know that the Su-27 also doesn’t perform all that well in real matches as well. You practically stopped playing it after the first week of the patch because I was slamming you with AMRAAMs as soon as you took off.

This is a lie.

You have played a total of 1 game in the J-10A at top tier in the past month.

Cuz i havent been playing much over the last month after i got burnt out from grinding out the soviets out to the Su-27SM and the Chinese out to the J-10A. ALSO, Space Marine II came out and Ive been having a lot of fun playing that.

Not sure if you know how to count btw, but theres 5 BLUFOR jets on that page and 9 REDFOR ones, qnd more REDFOR games than BLUFOR ones…

Wrong again lmao. I stopped playing the Su-27 because

  1. My friends started playing other games a lot, such as EFT
  2. The J-10A got announced and at the time I was expecting it to be a multirole with a good TGP (it was tremendously disapointing in that regards when it actually came to the live server, as its almoat entirely air to air focused, which I find boring as hell.

I intend to retuen to the Su-27SM to grind out the Su-34, seeing as the J-10A had been a tremendous disapointment to me atm due to the lack of variety in its gameplay.

As for why im currently playing the F-16C, since you seem to wanna know my life story, Ive been neglecting my US air tree and need to finish grinding the F-15C, A-10C, F-111F, and afterwards the F-15E being added.

OH! And as an additional note, the reason my F-16C is my “most played” aircraft in sim is because I play it often in GSB, so the games are shorter and i get more in, something I dont really do much with other aircrafts at all.

Excuses rolling in, none valid as to why they shouldn’t realistically model all FM’s including the F-16’s.

You have played the J-10A for a total of 1 game in this latest patch.

All of the other jets that you have played are not at top tier. Nobody is complaining about red side being completely imbalanced at lower tiers.

In the same time frame you have played the F-16C in 2 games. So your statement is misleading because you do not primarily play red side lately. In fact I don’t think myself or anyone has seen you play Su-27SM since the first few weeks after it first came out.

To put things bluntly…you are fundamentally misinformed about why red teams typically lose top tier matches. Red team players focus on PvP because they are routinely outnumbered 2:1 during the majority of the game.

Pretty much any player that is able to perform halfway decently on the red side is able to switch to blue side and then win the vast majority of their games. In order for red side to win games at top tier…they need to frag the horde of blue side players and then basically complete all of their objectives from the start of the game to the end of it. It doesn’t even matter if blue side is bombing because a lot of blue side objectives are easier to do or will autocomplete themselves.

I wonder what side is going to win this game? One side has 80% more players than the other.

I know this is slightly off topic for the thread…but I think there needs to be some clarity added to how top tier Air Sim matches usually go and why red side is sometimes competitive.

First off…this is the start of a pretty typical sim match with non-organized teams. At any one point during the match the Blue side will have dramatically more players. At the 30 minute mark this game is already 3 vs 8. I also have more kills than the entire red team combined and my team as a 3000 point lead in tickets.

This is the only currently active lobby in top tier right now by the way. It is 1 vs 5 at the time I am writing this. I cannot actually rejoin this lobby right now because I left to write this comment. In order for me to play top tier…I have to sit and wait until the teams even out…and every other person that wants to play USA top tier is in the exact same situation.

So how come red team players able to get higher K/Ds than blue team players? It’s actually pretty simple…there are more blue targets to shoot at during any given match. And red team players are more likely to be engaged in different sim communities and more likely to be squadded together. The game is borderline unplayable for most people if they are not working in a squad with a voice channel against what amounts to hordes of blue players that are waiting to queue.

In order to be successful on red team at top tier…you have to join the game early and actually be able to kill blue side players fast enough that the teams do not become too imbalanced. And winning the game means that you normally have to stick to it for the full duration of 2 hours.

And it’s not that Red team is unwilling to do PvE…it’s simply that the planes are not as good at PvP or PvE…and with team imbalance they are unable to. Even when they are able to…you basically have to complete every single objective as Red team in order to stand a chance of winning…while also dealing with having less players for PvP.

This is basically the effort that it takes to win as Red side; a coordinated team and the ability to dedicate yourself to winning the match from the start of the game. You have to basically keep the enemy from bombing your points, killing your players, and capture all of the air points, win all of the ground battles, and even then you might still lose.

And here is the kicker…if those same people that are forming dedicated Red squads to play the game switch to Blue side…they will win practically every time. But they can’t even attempt to switch to Blue side because there just isn’t room available most of the time. Or the conclusion of the game is that Red side gets locked to their airfields and quits.
