And the r77 is an amazing missile
Yes long range the aim120 is better but those long range shots are a shot in the dark anyways
Also the tws Radar on the su27 is indeed a Joke
So even with aim120c long range shots will be hard
Ppl overexaggerate about the flanker being crap, i really don’t think It is, but It would be nice to get a better missile. As ppl pointed out many times r-77-1 isn’t much better than its predecessor, it just gets a bit more range, which will make it more balanced towards amraam. It’s harder to get away from aim120 compared to r-77 Because r-77 doesn’t have enough energy.
R-77 x aim120 isn’t as unbalanced as r27er x aim7s tho, and i still think it should be removed from the early soviet 4th gen when (and If) they add MiG-29S.
Yea the aim7 vs r27er meta was awful the r27er is both faster and has more range than the aim7 by a Large margin (it even beats the aim120 and r77 at short to medium ranges)
But then the only alternative is the r27r which is worse than both the aim7 and r24r(R27r has more range but the r24r is much faster in the beginning but still slower than the r27er)
It’ll be more balanced tho, even if it’s worse than the sparrow… 27ER is just too much, an absurd monster missile.
Once they add the su-30sm i think i’ll be using a r-77/27Er combined payload. The su-27 and mig29 respective radars are the only thing stopping these missiles from being Star Wars shit, bars should make them much more efficient.
And to top it of there is the r27et with the second best Russian ir seeker and basically anything the r27er has

Adding R27er on top of that makes it even Harder

The problems with R-77 is that missile shouldn’t bleed as much as it’s in game. IRL R-77 and comparable and range adventage isn’t that huge as in game. R-77 just suck on range but has some adventages for example high off-boresigh shot. For my the main problem with current Su-27SM compare to other top tier jets is crap radar, much worst BVR capabilities. FM could be better but rn it feels fine.

I think bars will improve the plane by a large margin, rafale performs Very good although Mica doesn’t have good range compared to amraams.
Not saying the bars is better than rafale’s radar, but still, much better than the one we have now for the su27sm

But it’s not, in some plane you can get kill from 50km every much just use DL and TWS to help that amraam get a kill. I tested it in EF-2000 and getting kill on very long range is really consistant.
Yea Bars will help a lot much modern PESA radar with gimbal would be great.
I might be wrong but on range Mica is pretty similar to R-77 if we are talking about efficienty.

The Derby is literally just an aim120 short range and a r77 long Range
I didn’t have that questionable pleasure of using Derby but know it’s crap. But a good thing is only 1 TT plane has those.
I know atleat two the British Gripen and the Israel F-16
