highly recommend you give it some extensive test flights - overall its a complete side grade. However, if in your average gameplay the extra AoA and vastly upgraded degree of controllability around stall territory is going to actually come into the equation frequently for you then it can be an upgrade - just need to test fly it to decide that for yourself. Also, you are not going to experiencing barely any of the extra controllability the canards can offer outside of manual(full real) controls - so keep that in mind. Ofc in general buying anything that is not a premium jet or premium time is not at all an effective use of GE, but only you can know how much your time and/or sanity is worth so GE’ing stuff outside of those can absolutely be worth it in that regard.

Thank you all for taking the time to write such informative comments and aiding in my purchase.

I am a sim player and strictly only so, have had a blast with it so far, even tallied it.

It is an extremely agile bird even compared to Su-27 and J-11, the increased aoa freedom is extreme and is something I am not used to yet but I truly look forward to spending more time with it.

Overall have had so much fun with it flying it alongside Fullbacks and whatnot so cannot wait for more flankers!

As someone who loves flankers, totally worth it!

Thanks again, deeply appreciated, seriously!!

If you want to sim, dont unless they create 13.3 bracket or drop it down to 13.0.
Its always facing amraams. You wont ever get mainly Fox1 lobbies.

I have no problem facing amraams in Flankers :D

Was worth.

Speaking of which, I still don’t understand why the base Su-27 is 13.3 in Sim. In Air RB it’s resolutely “mid” at 13.0, even with the improvements. The SPO-15 is still a huge handicap.

This is a common issue for gaijin, their balance sucks and that’s for almost all BRs with some rare exceptions. The su-27 suffers a bit against planes with fox3s but also why should it face phantoms with skyflash and sparrows…

We need the good old decompression

Btw you guys should try naval EC at some point, the balance there is absolute dogcrap

Because BRs are too packed and it would be hillariously OP in 13.0 bracket as of now. There are like 2 planes capable of dealing with it without significant issues. Maybe 3 if we count Belgian F-16A with 9Ms.
But only 1 out of three (F15A, Gripen, F-16A belgian) is always against it. The remaining two are often on side of flanker.
I dont really count harrier with fox 3s as its pretty damn slow platform for effective employment of them.

I mean, in Sim I find the Harrier super OP at 13.0. FA2 is pretty much the only plane I do well in (don’t have the AV8B+ yet). And there’s the KWS as well now for AMRAAM spam.

And the Yak141, while it only has 4 missiles, is at 12.7 with a significantly better radar and RWR.

I dunno, I really don’t think the base Su-27 would be that much of an issue compared to the other 13.0 planes.

Forgot about that one but its always on side of flanker.

With the Su-27fm buffs is its turn rate accurate now? had a Su-27sm just snap round at high speed and missile me. Now previously you knew the Gripen would have the edge.

Probably not but it’s a lot better

I mean is better or worse than it should be

We don’t have graphs for su-27 with m1 engine

So Gaijin just buffed on what they feel it should be?

No, they just used the charts for the Su-27S, made the Su-27S flight model and then increased mass by 400kg and gave it the new thrust curve for the new engines. It’s the best way to make the SM (or any plane for that matter) outside of getting charts for it, which is often not possible.

No other nation gets that though. The Su-27SM in game has the engines from the Su-27SM2 and the dual pylons from the Su-27SM3…

It has the Su-27SM engines, the SM2 isn’t a real plane.
