why, the 30sm is pretty damn good. we really dont need stuff like the irbis yet, or the r37m on a platfrom like that. it still gets the bars, tvc as far as i know, and decent missile options.
they gave the rafale an aesa radar but if it comes to funcionality its basically the exact same as the su34 which has a pesa radar. irbis wont add anything new over the bars aside from just being better (while the bars should be good enough)

In fairness, the jump from T-10 to T-10S is way bigger than T-10S to Su-27S.
Devs clearly spent some time working on the FM. They likely are spending a LOT of time now, prepping for TVC. I can’t tell you how mad so many people are going to be if TVC is shit. This is the biggest reason for the wait.
Otherwise, without TVC on, we basically have the same plane now (Su-27SM) in a straight line, minus radar, with slightly less weight. Without a doubt, the defining feature of the Su-30SM will actually be the N011M, not the TVC that everyone will drool over.
Current rafale radar sucks
It’s a different case compared to the rafale. The M2K isn’t going to get any better than what it is now, and many countries lacked competitive stuff (mainly Germany), and after the F-15E got added with 229s they decided to pull the trigger on the EFT, and getting EFT without Rafale would be lame.
Unlike the M2K both the Su-27 and MiG-29 have versions that are from the exact time frame we have in game (late 90s and early 2000s) that would fit very well. If we get the Su-30sm those versions will be useless (assuming the flight performance of the Su-30sm is really that good and that TVC is modelled correctly).
What would be similar with the 30sm and rafale is that they are both planes with sensors (aka radars) that are (once the rafale radar is fixed) FAR too good for the missiles we have in game (any radar better than the F-16C’s apg66 has very marginal returns in game since we barely fire missiles 40km away).

i feel its biggest issue is that it doesnt store the targets for long enough so everything just drops off of tws before the next scan hits

Su-30MKI rolled off the line an KnAAPO 20 years ago man, it ain’t NEW-new, it’s just new. We know PLENTY about it at this point. Question is if the devs want to trust the sources the community finds them, or sit back a quote the wrong flight manual for key statistics.

It’s the first tandem Flanker at this point that makes sense to add. Su-27M would be a mixed bag. Marginally better radar (N001VEP vs N011), same engine performance, no TVC compared to Su-27SM. Su-30SM has the N011M, which is actually a hybrid PESA, TVC gives it marginally better WVR.
