Hi. I’m an Italian guy and I want to propose new possible vehicles to enrich the Italian low tier.
This is my first post and I wanted do it because I play War Thunder for a long time and I didn’t like the Italian low tier and need to be reformed.
The following vehicles that I will propose have already been discussed in the past, but the various surveys conducted have received not enough visibility.
I would like to preface this by saying that I am not forcing the developers to add ALL of them and that I am absolutely willing to collaborate in any way to bring them into the game, as I am very passionate about Italian History (being Italian).
Obviously, if a particular vehicle does not want to be added into the game, I hope there are good reasons (insufficient historical sources, animation/mechanical problems, etc.).
I believe all the vehicles meet Gaijin’s criteria for adding units to the game, and I think that, if added, they would make the tech tree even more interesting.
Therefore, I have excluded vehicles such as the P43 and P43 bis/ter, which was only a wooden model, or the Semovente da 149/40, which does not even have an ammunition hold and places for the loader and gunner.
In this post, I will list all the possible candidates with a synthetic description, but if you want to know more, I will be available to answer any questions I can.
Ok, let’s start:
- The Fiat 2000 was a heavy tank built in Italy and adopted by the Regio Esercito during the WW1.
It was designed by FIAT in 1917 and was produced in only two examples, one in 1917 and one in 1918 .
It was the first tank designed and built in Italy, and because of its armor, the thickest among contemporary tanks, with its 40 tons it was the heaviest vehicle produced during the WW1, with the exception of the never completed German K-Wagen of 120 tons.
In game I would to add 3 versions: the Prototype, the Mod.17 and the Mod.34.
In addition to its weight, it stood out for some innovative solutions, such as the completely rotating turret (also present on the French Renault FT tank ) armed with a cannon and the engine compartment separated from the crew compartment. - The Fiat 3000 was a light tank supplied to the Royal Army , an Italian copy of the successful French Renault FT tank . The vehicle was supplied in two versions, Mod. 21 and Mod. 30, which differed in their main armament (a 37 mm gun for the second variant) and detailed improvements to the hull. Approximately 150 examples were produced and in the 1920s it was practically the only armoured vehicle the army could count on. It enjoyed a certain success on the international market.
- The L3/33 LF was the flamethrower variant of the CV33, built on L.33 II Serie and L.35 I and II Serie hulls. In the first prototype, a long lance with a distinctive nozzle was inserted in place of the left machine gun, while the fuel system was inside the tank and drew from a 520-liter trailer-tank. The system was called “Apparecchiatura L.” At least one prototype was also built in which the entire system was contained inside the tank, and finally, a third solution was chosen, in which the flammable liquid tank was placed on the engine hood, which reduced the container capacity but did not have the inconvenience of the trailer that could create problems. I suggest this unit like event or premium vehicle.
- The Panzerkampfwagen P40 737 (i) was the German captured version of the P26/40, required from Germans after the 8th September 1943.
I suggest this like permanent premium vehicle.
- The autocannon 102/35 on SPA 9000 truck was an anti-aircraft self-propelled gun used during WW1 by the Regio Esercito.
The complex represented the first weapon system of the Regio Esercito based on a piece of artillery permanently mounted on a vehicle.
The complex was the first self-propelled gun of Italian construction and design, the gun was a 102/35 naval cannon on a candlestick mount, while the vehicle was an SPA 9000 truck.
- The autocannon 102/35 on Fiat 634N truck was an Italian autocannon used by the Regio Esercito during WW2. After the end of the First World War, the autobatteries were all decommissioned and the pieces were probably returned to the Regia Marina. In 1941, the Fiat factory in Tripoli set up seven autocannons on the Fiat 634N chassis for the Regia Marina, using the 102/35 guns taken from the defenses of Benghazi.
- The autocannon 90/53 on Lancia 3Ro truck was a gun truck used by the Regio Esercito in the WW2 and by the Italian Army in the post-war period. The piece was mounted on the Lancia 3Ro, a heavy truck used by the Regio Esercito in numerous versions, as a mobile workshop, tanker, tank carrier and as a hand-built tractor, even for the Mod. 1939 itself in the towed version. The battery required the chassis to be lifted on 6 jacks.
- The 75/27 CK on Ceirano 50 CMA truck was a cannon truck used by the Regio Esercito in the Ethiopian War, the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War. The 75/27 C.K. cannon (Krupp Commission) was developed in 1915 by the Regio Esercito Arsenal in Naples by transforming the 75/27 Mod. 1906 cannon. The 75 mm caliber barrel is 2250 mm long and weighs 346 kg including the automatic closing and opening bolt. The barrel core, which has 28 grooves, wore out after about 1000 shots. The truck was a Ceirano 50 CMA, a standard heavy truck of the Royal Army at that time, with a 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine for a displacement of 4712 cc.
- The AB41 with a 47/32 cannon was a WW2 Italian heavily armed armored car prototype based on the AB41 medium armored reconnaissance car chassis.
The design was presented to the Italian Regio Esercito in late 1942, which subsequently requested a prototype. It was ready at the same time the North African Campaign was ending. The vehicle did not perform well during tests and it was abandoned in favor of the better armed and armored AB43.
- The Fiat 611 is an armored car produced by Fiat in collaboration with Ansaldo for colonial use. Designed by Ansaldo in 1932 around the Fiat 611 C (Colonial) truck, it was adopted the following year by the Public Security Guard Corps. The variant I would to propose is the one armed in the turret with a 37/40 gun.
- The Fiat-SPA AS43 (not to be confused with the SPA-Viberti AS43) was an armed Saharan truck used by the armed forces of the Italian Social Republic and Nazi Germany during the Second World War. The AS43 was built, like the Fiat-SPA AS42 “Sahariana”, to provide fire support to the motorized units of the Royal Army engaged in the North African theater. The AS43 was developed by SPA and Viberti on the chassis of the Autocarro Sahariano AS37, in turn derived from the Fiat-SPA TL37 light artillery tractor.
The version that I would to propose is that with the 47/32 cannon.
- The SPA-Viberti AS43 is an armored car produced by Viberti and adopted by the Army of the Italian Social Republic during the Second World War. This vehicle was born from the need of the Republican Army for an armored car for reconnaissance and infantry support that was cheaper and simpler than the AB40/41 and AB43. The AS43 was developed and produced in 1944 by Viberti starting from the “Autoblindo Africa Settentrionale Italiana” or “ABS37” of the Società Piemontese Automobili.
- As the last candidate unit, I would to add the anti-aircraft version of the AS43 47/32, therefore with the 20mm cannon of the AS42, but with an 8mm Breda machine gun for the gunner, seated next to the pilot.
