It’s the worst radar at top tier and it’s not a narrow margin.
Still yet to see that be proven…
Please refer to:
You clearly have nothing to say, so don’t say anything.
Its slowest
But lol, not only speed matters
The radar… Is the slowest…?
Oh boy, it makes so much more sense now! The waveform is obviously the slowest of all top-tier radars! It’s so clear to me!
I think the Su-27 is just perticuarly affected by this bug report. Fix that, Su-27 becomes fine

slowest scan speed(to scan full pattern at least)
or at least one of
I see, the pattern here would be quite helpful for maintaining updates on aircarft.
Yep, Blue Vixen (so FA2 and Gripens) I’ve felt that aircraft can sometime “hide” in radar blind spots for what feels like ages and is not something I experience with the foxhunter. I guess its this and the Su-27s have the same issue. The radar is scanning space below the target for ages, creating this “blind-spot” for a while
O~O
Radar on the Tornado F3
I hate the Tornado!
Just needs its missing 216 or 432 large calibre chaff and BOL to have its effectiveness quadrupled and with the new FM, it would be truly awesome
It has the slowest refresh rate of any top tier radar. Populating new targets takes from 7-14 seconds and that is if the scan pattern doesn’t just miss the target.
This is a well known fact to basically anyone that plays top tier which is why your initial comments were met with the reaction that they were.
Well, to name a few:
-
It’s got among the lowest gimbal limits in top-tier. 120° wide and -55° below the nose
-
It’s the only radar at top-tier without the ability to change scan widths or # of bars
-
It’s the only radar at top-tier without the ability to slew radar freely from side to side, you’re locked to 1 of 3 positions
-
It’s the only radar in top-tier without the ability to soft-lock targets In TWS. You have to manually slew the radar up-and down at all times in order to not lose the target, especially complicated when you’re both changing altitudes/aspects. Miss one single scan and you’re looking at 7-14 seconds to reacquire the target.
-
It’s the only radar at top-tier still limited to 10km ACM. Everything else 13.7 (except maybe J10 that I haven’t seen/tried) is at 19km. Twice the distance of N001, and it just got its HMD increased to 20km too.
Saying it’s ‘VERY good and tunable with one of the best user-interactive integrations in the game’ is WILD.
It’s literally the slowest radar… Viggen TWS found at 10.7 is literally a 2-3x improvement in terms of speed imo.
It’s also especially hurt by the new scan pattern (Community Bug Reporting System)
Having more than 2 bars, 4 in this case makes it incredibly inconsistent and unpredictable, It can take up to 7 seconds between scans, couple this with the fact that TWS can’t even soft-lock making it susceptible to missing scans, you can easily be looking at 14 second reacquisition times in TWS, same in PD if one singular lock misses
Average =/= lowest.
Almost all aircraft up at top-tier have a gimbal limit of +/-120dg. The only one I can think of offhand is the MiG-29 9-19, which sits at +/-170dg.
That reduces its effectiveness how?
A 50x10dg scan with 4 bars isn’t at all bad. It covers a very manageable area that neither leaves a lot of deadspace between sweeps nor limits your scope to a small area.
Are you not manually slewing your radar to begin with?
There is quite literally ZERO reason to soft-lock targets in TWS. If you want passive detection, you have IRST. If you want to lock somebody to fire a missile… You lock them?
You seemingly don’t play this aircraft for shit.
Saying that average scope limits are bad, soft-locking with SARHs is important, and that the ACM is 10km is downright stupid and ignorant. To say whatever I’m stating is wild when you clearly haven’t played any Soviet / Russian top-tier in the last 2 months is hilariously idiotic.
aint gaijin gave J-10A 170 gimbals too?
Lmao.
You have a total of 4 games in it.
What?
There are a few at 170°, a few at 140°, F14 if that counts 130° I think, lowest is 120°. It’s literally impossible for it to be “average”
50x10° is massively overkill for most application where you want to track one target without going full tunnel-vision and setting off alarm bells in targets aircraft (STT).
I also explained why 4 bar is the worst one in the game:
I do
There is. Like I said earlier ‘when you want to track one target without going full tunnel-vision on them and setting off alarm bells in targets aircraft (STT)’. Soft-locking also allows you to launch Fox 3’s, it also ensures target stays within the same bar at all times for consistent refreshes. Something 4-bar radars with current patterns MASSIVELY punishes you for missing (up-to 14 second reacquisition time like me and UD explained), it also means you can crank, gain/drop altitude however you want without target drifting out of the scan-zone or losing track.
Read what I wrote again… Slowly…
Also, I have 93 games in the flanker in EC simulator games. A game mode where you actually rely on your avionics and don’t have the entire enemy team marked in red text 3 minutes into the game to point-and-click at with HMS. I also have ~4x more kills just in sim alone compared to you in all modes with same number of games.
You’re the one saying the radar is ‘VERY’ good and tunable with one of the best user-interactive integrations, and that it has the most information feedback when it’s objectively the worst radar in those exact areas. Also press the simulator tab
also if you haven’t noticed, this is a sim thread. easy mistake though.
