You have probably heard of the recent bug where a Ju-87 Stuka dives and everything seems normal at first. However, as soon as it flattens out, the audio turns into an unbearable, extremely loud droning noise.
As a technical enthusiast, I analyzed the behavior and came to the conclusion that this is likely a conflict between the sound engine and the built-in error correction system.
Here is the probable cause-and-effect chain:
The Trigger: The initial diving sound ends, but the system loses the tracking or transition data to the next audio state (e.g., leveling out).
The Conflict: The error correction triggers to fix the missing data and tries to loop or hold the last known sound sample. At the exact same time, the new engine sounds start playing.
The Result: These identical audio layers overlap, causing massive constructive phase interference. This forces uncontrolled volume and bass levels, creating that specific droning noise.
The Outcome: After a few seconds, the error correction either recovers (everything goes back to normal), or the audio buffer overflows, completely crashing the sound thread for the rest of the match.
This post is not an official fact, but rather a technical analysis of the cause. I hope this helps the developers isolate the bug in the audio pipeline!
ok, i tested the bug ingame and it isnt quite like it is on reddit BUT i found another bug, because if i dive and pull up the siren keeps going at the same volume instead of getting quieter even tho i am too slow and it wont stop unless i throttle down to 350kmh at which it stops completely this also may be because of an error in the code.
It turns out that the droning noise is only for tanks and planes hear only the normal siren but as said always the same volume.
I also noticed that the posts on reddit are 2h before my post which is when the authenticator server crash happend, which makes me think that the crash broke something since the crashes were caused by update overload.
On the 31st of july the Problem is still not fixed and seems to be still in the Game BUT is already fixed in the WiP Client and will come to the normal Game. Shoutout to @Necronomica for the Information!
The Problem seams to be fixed, the only remaining problem is an error in the code bc the stuka dive sound still doesnt get quieter until 350km/h where it cuts off
I encountered this bug earlier today and it was so loud i had to take off my headphones. I could still hear it when i took off my headphones. I think i have permanent ear damage
If your still experiencing the bug and you are on the latest version ( 2.57.1.60 or newer ) then create a bug report for it. You can bug report it here: Gaijin.net // Issues (just search a bit first so that you don’t report something that is already reported and known about)
I was just forced to restart my game because it cut all noise from the game even after the match. When i restarted it, the stuka seemed to be fine when i tested it alone so nice quick work by the dev team. Thanks
