Shouldn’t the Night Hawk be stealthy from more than just the front? Its engine exhaust is even directed up, so I imagine it’d be fine from the rear. Wouldn’t it only be a problem if it were to roll/turn hard?
It should have most of it’s stealth capability from the front. How much it’s RCS is in each aspect is crap shoot. So while odds are it is probably wrong cause the information is classified. It could possibly be right cause the information is classified.
I wonder if it will stay at 8.7. Seems quite low, and stealth is not much of a benefit there…
IDK while there is not much radar there. The 117 has so little damage potential I can’t see it going higher. Yeah it stealth it a cool gimmick but that’s about it. Hell other 8.7 attackers already have a lot more potential than this could produce what can this do in an ARB match kill 1 base?
I can’t wait to shoot these down in a La-200 or Vampire. Very immersive.
US Teams in ArB at this BR are already a mess, and you introduce a stealth plane which will face jets from the 50s, without an airspawn, with no offensive armament and no cap on quantity in the MM lobby. It’s insane.
Gaijin what are you doing? Please, please, take a breath and figure out and improve your decade old game design before introducing a novelty cash grab like this.
to be fair if they are pushing for the addition of stealth aircraft this would be the first. If this is any sign we might see the 35 or 22 in the next 2 to 3 years. Although I am doubtful this would be the best way to test the waters other than an April fools event. Honestly I would have preferred the latter.
I don’t understand ‘to be fair’ in this context.
How does introducing a stealth plane that will face planes from four decades earlier without any viable radar create a testing pipeline or pathway to generation 7 aircraft?
They have completely lost the script. It’s all just so random and chaotic with seemingly no plan.
It is indefensible that a F-117 will be bombing the same targets that Bi-planes do.
mostly because it is an 10.0 GRB. It has no A2A capability the idea of testing it in an ARB is out the question.
Edit: Another reason why it’s good it is a squad vehicle more I think about it. People did want it to the game and it will always be nothing more than an novelty aircraft in the game.
These could be cool as A.I observation aircraft in air sim.
… Actually, F117s could probably be used as A.I planes in a similar fashion. Definitely feels more fitting that cl13 sabres at the very least.
Note: It also has no RWR… = /
Why do you think 8.7 is low in air battles?
Compare it to the Vautours at 9.0, similar flight performance (i think?) and the F-117 wont have the 30mm main gun and only 2 bombs instead of 6.
I’ll honestly be surprised if it isn’t lowered further in BR for air battles as BR is calculated from efficiency.
Well, it eas clear from the start that it’s in a strange spot. Dedicated Bomber for point targets, operating almost eclusively at night, optimised to penetrate air defense radar cover.
We have no (viable) point targets, (almost) no night battles, and at that BR no relevant modern(ish) radars.
True.
I’m looking at it from an efficiency standpoint. If the F-117 goes 100% uncontested in an air RB match it can get a maximum total of 3 bases throughout the match (4 if its an extra lengthy match). Which means that the average efficiency per match is going to be super low. Most matches are likely to end up with zero bases and shot down, or one destroyed base and then killed on the way to land, or surviving and getting a second base before match ends or shot down.
Poor arment✅
Can be purchased via GE✅
Featured enough for players(especially the newbie)✅
I can already see how players being the free kills in ARB after the update.
Definitely going down way lower than 8.7
8.7 for F-117 is insane. I couldn’t care less how bad it will be, it’s just wrong.
F-117 will always be a gimmick plane. It should be at 13.7 to fit the era.
It’s not a Sabre’s or MiG-15’s problem that the game doesn’t have a purpose for bombers and CAS planes in air battles.
What’s the point of realistic vehicles and mechanics, if they are put in an arcade wonderland of a matchmaker.
Next they will add SR-71 Blackbird at 4.0, because it can only take pictures.
how is a 117 going to be a problem for the mig or saber to kill? It’s literally a free kill.
I mean, we do have quotes from former pilots of the Nighthawk who claim it could use any weapon in inventory that physically fit inside the weapons bay.
Just because they didn’t use sidewinder operationally doesn’t mean it technically couldn’t
Wow, you missed the entire point.
The MIG-15 and Saber did exist in service in place around the world when the F-117 was in service. So it still is realistic as well for them to meet.
Ah yes, so MiG-15 should meet an F-117 every single game, even in a full downtier, because it theoretically could meet it as a severely outdated plane at that time. You’re manipulating hard here with selective evidence.
