Just a genuine reminder, be willing to take a win. We may not be getting I-Derby ER, or maybe there will be other issues like the Python 5 underperforming. Whatever the case, be grateful we’re not stuck will the Machbet and Chaparral for another update, at least we got it a bit better than Italy right now…
I’m not saying don’t be upset by these issues, but remember to be glad we got a win, we have a new top tier SPAA, finally.
I still can’t believe that the Python5 (or better yet a missile called python5) is being added before the P4, that missile is a 5th generation missile with almost incredible capabilities (Fullsphere, sophisticated seeker, etc.) I smell that WT was pressured to do this by the desire to have the IRIS-T and the Aim9 X but I’m just saying, in addition the I-Derby-ER is also a long range missile (+100km) and the AIM120C will also be included, everything is very accelerated. The only defense an aircraft has against such missiles is electronic countermeasures (ECM), but they are not in the game.
First it was the CS/SA5, then the SLAMRAAM, now the Spyder. If they refuse to fix the SLMs range and speed issues, then the best unit SPAA is going to remain the Pantsir.
I think we can already say with confidence it will be.
Neither SLM or Spyder are going to have the interception capability that Pantsir has, and both of them are likely going to get hard countered by these RU/CN Heli’s with magical IR immunity.
better than most AAs? You mean better than the chaparral? Yes, in some situations (but not in all). Better than most 12.0 AAs? Definitely not. It should be at 10.7. Why?
If I had to choose between spawning a 2S6 and a Spyder, I’d choose the 2S6 since its better (more effective range, no minimum range). 2S6 is at 10.7.
If I had to choose between Strela and Spyder I’d probably still chose the Strela, again for similar reasons as before. But if it were at 10.3 it would face 9.3 enemies, some not even having an RWR, that would just be too much. Still, A10A early or SU25 (10.3 and 10.0) vs Spyder is a fight that the attacker will win, which in my eyes would mean a 10.3 placement would still be fair if ignoring downtiers.
That’s also why I am saying it will be DOA, it has no place in top tier when it can’t even hold its ground at 10.3.
it seems like a waste of time to argue with people who apparently haven’t even tried the Spyder.
to kill it with A10 or SU25: Approach low, pop up 1-3km away (which gives you plenty of room to find it in case its not at the spawn) and kill it with guns or rockets. The Spyder can’t do anything against it. Think you can hit it with a Python? No, it will fly over it or go for a flare (yes, its very easy to flare it since it locks on after launch. it’s only hard to flare once it has locked on, which isn’t going to happen in the first place).
A Pantsir will get you with no problem. That’s the current state and if you doubt it, try it for yourself and see.
In which case that works against EVERY SINGLE SPAA whether it has guns or not, it won’t have time to turn. Spyder isn’t alone here. EVERY SINGLE SPAA will get killed as long as you are not flying towards it headon. There is also a reason why people don’t do it at top tier and instead use standoff which spyder does better than all those lower BR’d SPAA: There are other CAS and CAP vehicles out there who can prevent that from happening.
which leaves us in the existing pattern: SPAA is dead, CAP (and TY-90 helis) is the only anti-air besides Pantsir … again confirming what I said: The new SPAAs are DOA and this will be one of the most underwhelming updates of the past years
this happens when you shoot pythons at hostiles in a furball of randomly flying AI jets with no flares. just in case anyone thinks python 5 don’t miss their target
But that doesn’t justify the so called ‘I’ll take 2S6 over it’ or ‘I’ll take 9K37 over it’. I am not saying it is amazing, which it probably should have been, but there is also a reason air superiority matters so much and that CAP/TY-90 cost u a fortune.
SPAAs are pretty DOA at this point, even Pantsirs struggle against any player with good knowledge of how to play. But that doesn’t justify lower BR for SPYDER.
Just regarding that, I have an idea of making the lock circle smaller, more akin to R-27ET size.
I’m pretty sure it already has a narrow seekers. That’s not the problem here. The problem is that it doesn’t see the target at launch, it performs LOAL. And then, the friendly engine, or a flare, will be hotter than the actual target which usually is coming at you (front aspect). As said, once it has locked a target, its unlikely to lose it. But due to LOAL it will lock onto the wrong target.
SPYDER IS VERY GOOD!
You have literally 0 chance of surviving a spyder unless you have a drunk person against you
Rockets are a disgrace
MI-28 KA-52 will slap your cheeks
All the people who post here that you should be happy, you should be happy that you get radar with nasty missiles. Then, when the developers don’t change anything, well you are glad… Do not be surprised
It’s like getting your ass kicked. But you’re happy about it.
