Hey again does anyone know what I should do to be able to target planes below a 5km range? Or is it just like that? The missiles just go to where the plane was when I shot it… meanwhile I see other SPAAs doing it easily 🫤
It’s just how it is sadly man. The devs don’t care to fix the flight paths of p5 or derby along with the radar being schizophrenic

Although I forgot to mention the P5’s wobbly flight path is directly related to the seeker head and low velocity of the missile not being compatible to hamster servers, either they should give the P5 some extra speed and improved seeker head, or they should fix their slow high latency servers. Personally I’m the saddest about the namers being 11.3 I really evaluate the pros and cons of namers to its similar competitors and man namer never comes on top

Do you mean 5km altitude or net range?
Either way, stick with Python-5 for anything under 10km. From 10-16km, you can use either missile – but if they’re high up (1.5km+ alt), go Derby; if they’re supersonic and closing fast on your position, slap on the P5 instead. It’s way more maneuverable.
Now, to your actual question:
Derby straight-up won’t work on planes or helis closer than 3km to the main vehicle. That means the target has to stay >3km from the SPYDER itself the whole damn flight – from launch to boom. Get any closer at any point? Missile’s toast.
Oh, and one more: Derby is basically just for nuking helis with LDIRCM. Nothing else.

Does this mean new missles? My derby missles take forever to even reach 10 km
yes, probably next update, I-Derby ER has a range of 50KM

unfortunately not, but 50km is gonna be more than enough for our anti air, since we barely have any and SPYDER pretty much sucks right now, but if they’ll give it I-Derby ER and a Fixed python 5 + AESA radar it’ll possibly dominate.
Can’t wait tho, lets hope they dont make it super bad cause we’ve seen this before with Gajijn
it doesnt really need it actually, it doesnt need a stealthy I-Derby ER. Smokeless Motor is only good in close ranges, but at long ranges i dont really see the point, I-Derby ER is a Medium Range missile. which is Already good enough and doesnt need a smokeless motor (just saying, its still gonna be extremely good if gaijin gives it accurate stats)

40km*. If you’re referring to the SPYDER AiO (the one we have ingame, I’ve just learned there’s supposedly a earlier version), then the maximum range it can have with non booster missiles is 40km through the I-Derby ER, and that’s for non maneuvering targets, so it’s effective range work probably be more like somewhere in the ballpark of ~30km if I had to guess.
SPYDER SR systems have used: Python 5, Python 5, Derby, and I-Derby missiles. (I-Derby ER can be used, but imo that makes the system capable of being designated “ER” instead)
SPYDER ER systems use: Python 5, I-Derby, and I-Derby ER.
SPYDER MR systems (not ingame yet) use: Python 5-MR (Python 5 with booster), I-Derby MR (I-Derby with booster).
SPYDER LR systems (not ingame yet) use: Python 5-MR, I-Derby MR, and I-Derby LR (I-Derby ER with booster).
Ground launched max azimuth ranges:
Python 4/5: ~12km.
Derby/I-Derby: ~20km.
I-Derby ER: ~40km.
Python 5-MR: ~40km.
I-Derby MR: ~60km.
I-Derby LR: ~80km.
