SPYDER - General Discussion

image
So according to the leaks there’s two (technically 3) variants we can get.

Spyder AIO (SR Configuration) I-Derby (Max alt 8.5km, Max range 20km) and Python 5 (Max alt 7km, Max range 15km)

Spyder AIO (ER Configuration) I-Derby ER (Max alt 11km, max range 40km), I-Derby (Max alt 8.5km, Max range 20km) and Python 5 (Max alt 7km, Max range 15km)

Spyder AIO (Python-5 only) Python 5 (Max alt 7km, Max range 15km) - Very unlikely

Python 5 has datalink so it can be launched outside its seeker lock range

Holy crack it’s here! 4 missiles it seems. Poor eyesight of mine. Derbys and Type 81 missiles? I can’t tell if it’s 8 or 4 now…

It says 4, which would be accurate as it only was displayed with 4 irl on an actual vehicle. I guess the stats are placeholder as usual with dev

Yeah, I know, but if you watch the stream, it seems the launcher is filled with two racks of 4 missiles each.

Spoiler

My guess would be that one of them (racks) is just for storage purposes.
However it later shows 4 on the Test Drive. I don’t know which one to trust, then.

SPYDER™ All-in-One: Single Vehicle Mobile Air Defense System

Raphael’s own page shows one with 8 as well, so I’d assume that one also exists but hasn’t really been shown off IRL.

I’d guess it’s just 4

It has been shown, but only in models/renders. No irl image was found, at least as far as were aware of

I’d guess the Type 81 missiles are for balance? Or is it wrong? I don’t understand it to be honest.

Placeholder. SPYDER never had such a missile, placeholder is the most likely option. It appears other weapons in the dev stream also had placeholder stats

The missiles on it are not Type 81C missiles. I was curious and so I checked.

I am not sure why it is called Type 81C, but its stats are vastly different.

So they picked the Type-81C as a preset and adjusted the stats, I guess.

Do you think the ability to retract the radar without shutting it down will be possible?

I think it has to be up all the time for proper tracking irl

I’d guess so. Also, wouldn’t the radar have to scan differently?

It’s a RADA Enhanced and Extended Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar. The radar is just 4 screens, they don’t move

So it wouldn’t scan as shown in the video? Circularly? How is it in real life, like an expansive wave?

I couldn’t watch the live stream for some reason. Is Spyder coming?

Yep. You should be able to watch it though. They’re doing the russian one now, if you want to take a look. I don’t understand anything they’re saying though.

Really, really, really! How many missiles does it have?

4 in test drive, 8 when in the menu. Probably 4 in battle.

It should just be screens, which scan their own area, meaning you don’t have to wait for a normal radar to make a turn and only then detect an enemy
