So naval gameplay become a reality vs imagination where imagination is stronger and always win like in cartoon movie?
OK, then this become a children gameplay so I hope children will enjoy it, at least those from far north east
That’s a flagrant lie. Wikipedia points out sources that are biased and flags areas that aren’t sourced.
You can also use worn out barrels. Reduced accuracy and performance, but ofc it works in a general way.
I’m gonna go off on a tantrum, but seeing people on reddit defend this ship’s addition has absolutely infuriated me since everyone there claims that since she was laid down the Soviets absolutely could have finished her as designed despite lacking industry and technology to even produce her armor.
People really need to stop defending Soviet “paper” ships like Kronshtadt and Soyuz by saying that things like Amagi or Etna are in the game, this defense is incredibly stupid and it omits the reasons for which the ships weren’t built. Amagi was scrapped as a result of naval treaties, Etna wasn’t finished since war hasn’t developed in Italy’s favor. If not for very specific circumstances surrounding those ship’s cancellations (in Etna’s case literally scuttling) those ships were absolutely going to be finished as designed as both Japan and Italy had the industry and technology to build them. We also know the performance of the armament of those ships, as armament they were supposed to use was also present on other ships, Amagi’s 410mm guns were used on Nagato type battleships and Etna’s 135mm guns were used on Attilo Regolo, as an example.
This just isn’t the case for the Soviet fantasy ships. We have no idea how the armament of both Kronshtadt or Soyuz would perform, Kronshtadt’s guns were never built so all we have are estimations of it’s performance, which given that we are talking about Soviets, they are probably incredibly exaggerated. Soyuz’s guns were built and tested, which doesn’t change the fact that in the end, as far as I understand, we know almost nothing about those tests so we are again left with estimations of their performance, so they will most likely overperform like crazy.
Then comes the issue of Soviet armor making capability which is self-explanatory. As Smin confirmed, right now in game, Soyuz’s armor is cemented armor, which is an outright fabrication as Soviets decided to replace armor plates thicker than 200mm with face-hardened armor which was weaker, since they couldn’t make the 200mm cemented armor plates. This is the most egregious part of all of this. This whole thing regarding armor is a widely know issue and in my opinion, Gaijin cannot claim they didn’t know about it since it pops up everywhere when doing research regarding Soviet battleships. This is, in my opinion, a conscious decision to unhistorically buff the ship and it single handedly makes it a fake warships as in this configuration, it was literally impossible for Soviets to build it.
This is all something I feared for years that Gaijin would do after they announced that unfinished warships are okay. I feared they would take the designs at face value and ignore whether they could even be completed as designed. However I am all the more disappointed to see so many people, many of which probably don’t play navy or even never touched it, defend and enable this type of behavior. The sad part is, I actually really enjoy the Soviet ship design aesthetically and I would really like to get some of their warships, however this kind of bullshit, really pushes me away from playing them. I just absolutely hate how a nation with such an unremarkable navy and lack of naval expertise can have ships that weren’t finished, arguably couldn’t be finished and yet they outperform best warships of the top navies at the time.
I’ll try find my old document, but as far as I remember, actually 830m/s is ‘conservative’ interpretation of test result. Test was also done in 870 m/s for some shot, and concluded barrel can bear it and recalculate estimation of shell performance on 870 m/s, which eventually didn’t done by wartime.
What ? So you don’t even expect it won’t degrade further ? That it will end up in completley inoperable condition ? By your description degradation tempo it shouldn’t make 81 shot and used further
It’s really been funny people crying at ‘Soyuz should be differentiate as paper ship compared to other battleships and should not be in game’
Seriously, if Gaijin cannot put Soyuz, will Gaijin ever put battleship in this game and make only Iowa and Yamato people smile? I don’t think so, especially as USSR players were one of biggest playerbase on naval before New Power. They would just rather not make battleship and head to missile cruiser, where nations except USA and USSR suffer.
Imo there is a solution for “no paper!”, but… literally nobody gonna like it:
- skip of Soviet battleships straight for missile cruisers
/mostly joking, but… there is quite literally no other options. Just not giving is not an option at all
I like that its in, I just do think they should give it the face hardened armour and consider adding other mostly paper alternatives (they should do that for France and Italy anyway).
Russia seemingly gets a constant stream of laid down ships that weren’t finished, whilst also getting every ship they got via war prizes due to Stalin’s tantrums, even at the expense of for example the Italian Tech tree, and at the time the British tech tree too.
I know for Royal Navy, the addition of the laid down Neptune or Minotaur class would do wonders for the cruiser tree.
Oh boy, looking at the stream seems like we have a Soviet made Yamato at our hands. Who could have guessed that a fake Soviet ship would be better than Iowa in this game :))
Right? @Stona_WT is naval RB naval going to be fixed? So I’m not playing a street fighting game in naval? I hate to spam A, somehow click on the ship 10 miles behind my target, and have to re-range all over again.
USSR could’ve gotten missile crusiers instead, which would be incredibly OP, or, a partially complete BB. Which would you rather see?
Didn’t know both were laid down, that’s great to hear
Yeah they can’t beat the bias allegations with this one.
Basically, these are the so-called “supercharged” fake shells that the Soyuz were purportedly using. The SAP alone basically outclass most AP shells due to pen + stupidly high filler, and the AP shell has more pen at 10 km than most shell has at point blank range.
For comparison, here’s Yamato’s available shells. Mind you that Soyuz were to have twice the rate of fire of Yamato.
A partially completed BB with at least somewhat realistic stats. What I just saw in dev stream is pure Stalin’s wet fantasy. That thing has more explosive filler in 406mm AP shells than Yamato has in her 460mm AP shells. Soyuz’s shells are also about 100kg lighter than Iowas 406mm shells, yet have about 6kg more explosive filler and have the same penetration.
Soyuz’s armor is also on par with Yamato’s armor despite Soviets having no technology and industry to produce half the armor we saw in game.
What is this thing running on, Soviet magic?
Almost 40kg of TNT equivalent in an AP shell is actually crazy. And I won’t even get into its armor. Some people are hyped for “the big 3” finally coming, Iowa, Bismarck, Yamato, lots of people kinda scared of the Yamato but they don’t realize this Soviet fantasy will actually run the show lmao.
I am actually in awe, I expected many things from Gaijin, I expected them to make Soyuz an Iowa equivalent or something, but holy shit. She will actually give Yamato run for her money if she enters the game in this configuration. This is wrong on all kinds of levels.
i can also guarantee you these shells will be magically more accurate than the competition as was the deal with the kron.
yeah nah the soyuz is looking like it will actually destroy the show, 420-375mm belt, fast guns with almost the same performance as yamato all the while vanguard doesnt have its supercharge shells, no 6crh shells and possibly the same accuracy issue (if oxy’s words of “its a very accurate gun” to be believed, then id love to see what they were referring to.)
It’s because Yamato’s shell ingame has about 10 kg less filler than irl. Navweaps recently made horrible mistake by typo, and Gaijin recklessly use it as stats in game.
So 460 mm Type 91 APC should have 10 kg more filler than now, and lower pen(about 40 mm at 10 km should be reduced)
thats quite funny considering they dont consider navweapons a valid source
then that means that soyuz’ ap shell will actually have better performance at 10km than yamato LOL
