Sovetsky Soyuuz

This ship is just ridiculous. Adding ships that were never completed is the bar, I get that, but to make them the best ships in the game for their category? That’s just pernicious. The Kronstadt is already bad enough, but the Soyuz is just a blatant insult to naval players.

I was really looking forward to the update, but if the Soyuz is this good and the Roma is this bad (no concrete foam, unbearable RoF for the main guns) there really is no reason to do the naval side for me. I understand Gaijin’s desire for realism, but to hold ships that were built to the letter of the law, but then let ships that were never done be impossibly good is just a mockery of that.

Almost equal pen to Iowa, more explosive mass then Yamato, arguably better armor too since it can angle unlike Yamato and probably the smallest shell room and magazines on a top BB we have seen…

I hope this is dev only. I can count, and it’s not 300 shells.

Brother what? 😂

First ship I will grind and I’m gonna go on a damn crusade and only hunt fucking Scharnhorsts!

Making shit up about Russian vehicles, they always get a positive benefit without solid evidence, other vehicles will get a total nerf over rumors

Soyuz modeling of her ammunition rooms doesnt make sense. So much space between them and the turrets, with seemingly no way for shells to be prepared in a speedy fasion.

It looks more designed for War Thunders sense of damage modeling than anything a IRL ship would have.

You don’t play naval.

It’s cause they are Krons shell rooms/magazine and probably the same for the ammo elevators except the ammo elevators have been scaled up.
I’d give it a couple more dev updates before starting any serious complaining.

And before anyone else starts this wouldn’t be the first time something was put on dev essentially at the mid production point.

I’ve been boycotting it since they made arcade mode into a brainless mobile game. I was looking forward to these ships since naval was introduced. Not anymore. They can screw it up as much as they want.

Explosive filler weight is 25.7 kg. Just A-IX-2 is powerful than TNT so TNT equivalent shown in big character is stated as 39kg

Shell’s name is Model 1928 because it was year when soviet shell designers first ‘redesign’ the Imperial 16’’ shell design of 1914, because at that time soviet navy were considering converting Izmail class to 16’’ gun battlecruiser. The actual shell design for Soyuz was started in 1937, though it keep number of 1928, and that time, A-IX-2 was in consideration.

They added the penetrating power stolen from IOWA to Sovetsky Soyuuz.

Complaining and venting won’t help the situation. With the current implementation, it’s pretty clear that the Sovetsky Soyuz will outperform any other ship by a wide margin, but there are always some soft balancing factors that can be discussed, like armor quality, RoF, etc. Additionally if you can find a reliable source to prove that the armour scheme (which seems pretty unrealistic and suspicious to me) is wrong somewhere, you’re welcome to file a bug report. However, it’s a shame that I haven’t seen many useful bug reports submitted while you guys are complaining here.

Find sources and bug report it!

The armor acheme is unrealistic because its a soviet dream boat and not a properly functional design, never mind one the soviets could even build in the first place.

Trying to find sources to nerf a ship when the sources are already all just the lies of naval designers made to placate the fantasies of megalomaniacal sociopathic dictators to hopefully avoid the gallows juat isnt an option.

As for armor quality that was modelled at some point in WT history (way back in the day, german tanks had a negative modifier applied to their RHA to “represent poor late war steel quality due to sabotages”, but hasnt been a thing since (technically).

Realistically, theres nothing the community at large can do but operate on a tacit truce in every match until both teams have managed to sink all of eachothers Soyuz ships. The only way to properly deal with the mess that is going to be Soyuz is just going to be to make it miserable for anyone to try to play the stupid thing, because gaijin clearly cant be trusted to not put a soviet fanboys wetdream into the game for them to live our their god complex fantasies at the expense of everyone else.

I’ve ran into a few sources saying it’s 25mm

Another players had found that the AP model is too early for the A-IX-2 powder and it should be using normal TNT filler. So its filler should be reduced to 25.7kg. Large but not ridiculous.

Though someone really needs to look at her armored scheme and that ridiculous armored section on her bow. Its a nonsensical feature more useful to War Thunder Naval damage models than irl applications and highly suspicious. Just having it removed would do wonders in making her less invincible.

Final note is to move most of her crew to her machinery spaces because them hiding in her most armored sections in the magazines is bullshit. That, she’ll be more vulnerable to crew death.

Actually it would be more useful in real life as Gaijin doesn’t implement shell getting slower when hitting armor.

Her current crew in dev server is about 100 less than what is projected, so maybe not big help?

I would rather suggest Soyuz in 9.3, Iowa in 9.0 so all new battleships would only fight themselves.

Kind of hard to find a source for a fantasy ship there bubba.
