I have nothing much to add to this conversation lol. But, fwiw, I just felt like saying:
I am not bothered by these “anime” profile pics, decals, nor pillows. Idk, I just don’t care strongly either way.
HOWEVER, I do support the reasonable players here advocating for more “gritty”/“realistic” anime profile pics etc.
Like the post below. I find these types of suggestions to be quite reasonable and rational. Aside from the few reasonable posts like the one below, a lot of the hyperbole being posted isn’t going to change anything. And is almost completely pointless to post, much less to even take the time to read.
But if I where to place this next to the other 50 anime games it would be hard to pick it out so I see this falling foal of not being unique. Sometimes being more strict with your designs gets more people playing. Hoyoverse used to be very insane back in the day with this character design stuff until they dialed back there designs a bit then they discovered the other 50% of human kind. You can make attractive designs just ground them into your universe your designing. Writing and game design 101. Overall it would be sad if this venture failed because there trying to be everyone else.
Now this ^ is the take of the gooner that I was looking for
Id much rather have female characters in a military game that just simply dont wear makeup rather than depicting characters in their underwear but makeup-ed up like theyre going to a beauty pageant in an active warzone
(This gets a pass as it ascertains to makeup tho since they’re literally anime characters)
Thats fair, and I get where you’re coming from, but abstaining from purchasing things of this nature is one of the best ways to get the practice out. If you like it enough to buy it, you were going to do that even if I told you about predatory practices
Also fair, but in their cases tho theres not really anything they couldve copied from the TT that hasnt already been copied or is too modern, except maybe the T-72B3 or T-90A
Base models are the same, its the decorators that change the 3d models in that regard
I’d rather we not be doing this anime business - but that ship sailed long ago. I’m simply saying that sex sells and your suggestion doesn’t. Not that I’ll be buying any of these. Saving my money for the sales.
I agree with this heavily, every warthunder character so far has been depicted in era/role accurate-ish outfits up until this, this is honestly indistinguishable from the thousands of other things like this on a visual level, ingame tho its different
They knew what happened with the Santa’s helpers a few years back, remember how everyone went crazy over them as if they’ve not seen a woman. I look at this announcement and I can feel like sick forming at the back of my throat. I hate anime with a passion due to the reasons you said about how overly sexualized it can be.
Oh yeah, you got me there. I guess I just don’t care if sexual content is pushed. But any of my personal feelings aside, I’m not surprised Gaijin would go this route. More $$$.
Fundamentally that is their goal. Gaijin is a business, the purpose of warthunder isn’t to make a “good” game, but rather a profitable one. I personally kinda like this style of premium, if you don’t get it you’re not missing out on anything. And if you don’t like the anime-vibes there’s an alternative available.
Mmm, Honestly I don’t think they’re too bad, the US one could use a top, but I kinda see what they’re going for with it (stereotypical valley girl/Miami beach goer, but soldier!!!). The Russian one is objectively the best though IMO.
This I agree with.
In a world like War Thunder though, there really isn’t any character at all. So they just push hot ladies when they can. In other games I think its more of a problem. I would’ve preferred, for example, Santa’s Helpers to NOT be oversexualised. They had no reason to, they weren’t purchaseable.
