The same goes for most games that go this deep into modeling vehicles though. I wouldn’t recommend DCS to anyone who hasn’t at least played some flight sim.
The only outstanding issues with them are the FMs and lack of datalink/integration with AWACS and stuff. The latter is straight up beyond the scope of WT at the moment.
You mean the DU armor that a whole 5 tanks had? And the reload buff that ONLY the Abrams got while Leo2 and friends were left in the dust?

I wouldn’t say that for War Thunder. Many people like tanks without wanting to go straight into the deep in with it. I was always interested in aircraft, so to see the F-14A IRAIF come to WT was my key to come back. Events feel sort of lackluster now.
Either way, I’d 100% recommend this game to people if it was actually beginner friendly. Long time players can ignore a lot of the shit stuff but new players? They get bonked a few times and it’s over.
*Also DCS is another ballpark. WT has Arcade which definitely helped me settle into the game and was what pushed me to learn more about tanks.

Don’t get me wrong, I want new and modern vehicles, but in a curated and controlled environment. That’s why I believe we need new game modes and mechanics for this type of content. It won’t make me come back if it’s the same tired team death match formula.
