I think it’d help passively. If the game massively improved with the existing playerbase, more will want to stay and more would probably recommend it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had friends ask if they should try this out and I hit them with “Unless you are obsessed with the military, don’t even touch this game.”
And then what? You expect top secret military aircraft to be depicted anywhere near realistic in this game? We can’t even get the Abrams to be modelled properly. Eventually you are going to run out of aircraft and content.
You need mechanics and new game modes to support modern equipment, you can’t expect this technology to work in the team death match arena this game is.

I don’t care for the anime styled content, but I absolutely agree that this seems like a cash grab. It’s not good that the unique content is behind a $70 paywall ($100 for me because I’m Canadian).

The same goes for most games that go this deep into modeling vehicles though. I wouldn’t recommend DCS to anyone who hasn’t at least played some flight sim.
The only outstanding issues with them are the FMs and lack of datalink/integration with AWACS and stuff. The latter is straight up beyond the scope of WT at the moment.
