I like animation, both the genre and the style of art. My username is even from the name of an anime character (Ryo from BTR). However, I absolutely hate this update. It’s extremely cringe-inducing to have anime-themed vehicles and profile pictures in game in the first place, but it’s absolutely terrible to have these as a pack for $70. Just another cash grab without any effort, which degrades the quality of the game.
War Thunder is not about fiction, at least to the best of effort, and this is a huge perversion of the original ideal. I don’t want to see people with an anime profile picture in game. We already have things like a cartoon fox, sure, but at least that is semi realistic and has closer connections to styles used in historical media. We can’t turn the profile pictures off, either. What’s more, players are forced to be shown the enemy profile picture in the destruction replay, which makes it even more obvious Gaijin is just exploiting players.
There is not much new they can add that will bring players back or keep the game fresh. Mechanics, new game modes and fixes is what this game needs, not new vehicles. You can’t keep throwing vehicles and expect the game to get better over time.
See what top tier has turned into, we are beyond the limits of what Grounds Forces can cope with.

I agree. I don’t mind fictional skins and such, but having an entirely different 70 USD premium vehicle when the original is sitting right there is insane. If it was just a skin and all other cosmetics came to the original pack it would’ve been fine. This is just predatory- fit for Gaijin tbh.
I think it’d help passively. If the game massively improved with the existing playerbase, more will want to stay and more would probably recommend it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had friends ask if they should try this out and I hit them with “Unless you are obsessed with the military, don’t even touch this game.”
And then what? You expect top secret military aircraft to be depicted anywhere near realistic in this game? We can’t even get the Abrams to be modelled properly. Eventually you are going to run out of aircraft and content.
You need mechanics and new game modes to support modern equipment, you can’t expect this technology to work in the team death match arena this game is.
I don’t care for the anime styled content, but I absolutely agree that this seems like a cash grab. It’s not good that the unique content is behind a $70 paywall ($100 for me because I’m Canadian).
