Shenyang J-15T - The upgraded Shark

J-15t engine.
Slightly worse than ws-10b/h but still more than adequate

Whats this dome under the airbrake ? also will it have stealth coatings modeled ?

I’m surprised they never tied to cram a tail radar in that tail thing like the Russians keep trying. What would the point be for a tail radar?

Perhaps it’s some equivalent of MAWS or EODAS?

For the su-27m it’s maws, for su57 it’s ecm + likely maws and unlikely, able to be used as as stand alone radar. But j-15 has ir sensors for its maws on its ass anyways so it really has no need for a radar on its butt

my guess is some anti IR missile thing like SU39 has i dont think its maws as the maws is on tail boom

probably will artfically buff the CMs to put it at a higher BR cause the missiles are too good for that range which seems reasonable maybe theyll give it a BOL pod

J15 is just a modified SU33 theres no reason not to switch out the AL31 for a WS10 as then china can make the parts instead of russia WS10 is upgraded domestic replacement for AL31 so if J11B can fit them so can J15

Improved variant of J-15 incorporating CATOBAR launch capability, WS-10 engines, modern fifth-generation avionics, AESA radar, new airframes, stealth coatings, and compatibility to launch PL-10 and PL-15 missiles. First seen in September 2016, with two prototypes built.[25][27][30] In active service as of October 2024.[52] Previously referred to as J-15B in media.[30]

aircraft with WS10
Major applications Chengdu J-10C
Shenyang J-11B
Shenyang J-15
Shenyang J-16
Chengdu J-20

Su-33 can carry a chaff pod in exchange of one missile, idk if the j15 gets anything like that

In fact, the J15 family originated from the T10 prototype in Ukraine. China once wanted to purchase Su33 from Russia but failed, so it obtained T10 from Ukraine. J15 and su33 can be considered as twin sisters.

If I’m remembering right Russia wanted a lot of money to restart production lines with a plane from the Chinese side was technically obsolete with equipment they did not want.

Doing copyright violation was seen as a cheaper price to pay by buying a test rig plane sitting in a warehouse. Wish there where more books written about it would make a good drama

The J-15T always makes me think of Neon Genesis Evangelion—that anime actually imagined a catapult-launched Flanker fighter.

I think the Russians had a catapult test site for there Ulyanovsk class aircraft carrier (40% complete) before scrapping. You know why. So a Catapult launched Flanker likely existed or almost existed and maybe inspired the writers.

My favorite flanker media is in Anime is Gundam X After War as somehow there still around even after the apocalyptic war and basically being useless.

Yes, it’s a bit of a pity.

Probably because the Flanker is just too gorgeous.
