yo why is ganyu staring at into my soul
Tbf I don’t play ARB I almost exclusively play sim lol so HDN isn’t great for chasing or maintaining for defense
I know how I just don’t play the cocomelon gamemode
in sim, the mkk’s disadvantages (mainly bad sensors) are amplified, because that mode relies so much less on spotting and line of sight.
tangent/off-topic:
tbf, some tweaks to the radar ui and rwr interface could help mitigate those flaws:
afaik, there so far is no feature, to show where in the vertical scan zone the target is currently, whilst also not giving you any altitude indications iirc.
the rwr screen could maybe give us the feature the old spo-15 implementation ingame has (if the plane is capable of distinguishing vertical direction, which i assume many can).
also iff for locked targets on the screen, and maybe nctr. All would go miles to helping you stay aware. (this mainly applies to the ui, not the cockpit, as those do often vary so much in capabilites, accuracy and workability that it’s not possible to generalise)
btw, in sim, why does the missile datalink go silent upon going pitbull, and never returning?? (also the arh selfdestruct command should be a thing ingame)
What would save china is a mach 5 SD-10A /s
HUD repeater overlayed on the camara thats used for HUD recordings
this should be the camara in the J-11B
Would make sense if you couldnt slave it with POI
no since its only a small static forward looking camera
You can slave it ingame iirc
then thats a bug
OEPS-27 is responsible for a2g eo targeting, it is in the same sensor ball as the OLS-27 (irst)
hud cameras only record the fov of the hud, it has a similar use as a gun camera, no real in-mission usage out of it.
the OEPS-27 dosent provide a camera feed
only the OLS-35 is able to do so
the OEPS-27 is only able to do laser ranging against ground targets to provide more accurate ccip for guns and bombs
‘electro-optical’ → ‘optical electro’ → ‘OE’ (assuming here)
it is still just a simple IR sensor and not a camera
if you have any source that says otherwise i would like to see it
but i doubt that you will find anything that says something different from teh Su-27SK manual
and a camera feed is nowhere to be seen here

5.1.3. Optoelectronic Sighting System (OESS).
The OESS is an integral part of the aircraft’s weapon control system and provides:
- Detection, acquisition, and tracking of aerial targets in simple weather conditions against backgrounds of clear sky, clouds, ground, and water surface, day and night, during close-in maneuvering and long-range missile air combat;
- Range measurement to the target using a laser rangefinder;
- Generation and output of aircraft control signals in various guidance modes;
- Generation and output of display signals on multifunction indicator screens in the following modes: radar, optics, vertical, and noise, as well as aiming information when using infrared homing guided missiles against aerial targets, when using cannons against aerial and ground targets, and when using unguided external stores against ground targets;
- Solving tasks and providing launch conditions, issuing target designation and control commands to infrared homing missiles;
- Solving cannon aiming and firing tasks against aerial and ground targets;
- Solving aiming tasks for the use of unguided weapons against ground targets;
- Generation and output of signals to the weapon control system to ensure:
Refinement of weapon employment means depending on the combat application;
Output of angular coordinates of the target tracked by the radar sighting system when the optical locator station is the primary channel in close-range air combat;
Acquisition of a visually visible target in the following modes: NOISE, OPTICS, VERTICAL;
Output of angular coordinates of a visually visible target to the radar sighting system and to infrared homing missiles when aiming using the cinema sight in OPT mode and from the aircraft’s navigation and sighting system in NOISE mode;
Output of signals and control commands to the airborne defense system;
Reception of angular coordinates and current range values of the target tracked by the radar sighting system;
Reception of weapon status information from the weapon control system;
Reception of information from the automatic navigation and landing system to control the scan zone center of the optical locator station in command guidance;
Output of angular coordinates and range of a ground reference point to the flight navigation complex in VISUAL CORRECTION mode.
probably not, but i doubt that what’s been modeled in the mfd camera view was supposed to be the hud cam… then again, i’d be eager to see otherwise.
its a bug it shows the TGP cam, even tho you dont have a TGP installed
that i can agree with, it swivels and tracks POI as if it’s the flir under the gondola
and im guessing, devs will say it’s a limitation of how the mfds are implemented currently
its not
a bunch of jets have TGP mfd pages that are only avaiable when the TGP is installed
to name a few:
- F-15E
- F-16C
- F-18 (all of them)
- A-10C
- EF (german one without IRST)
- Gripen A/C
i mean, like, that the camera position (mfd output) changes based on presence of a flir, not whether it’s entirely available or not.
??? a bit contradictory to your statement
