Well have a look back at the AMRAAM C and some similar stuff are said. Turns out was tiny difference.
Should have just given us 8+4 config, no PL-12A, 14.0. Would work far better. Or PL-12A for 14.3, and then add to 14.7 when they add the only usable fox 2.
It’s just a balancing choice at this point i think. Gaijin probably thought that giving it 2 more missiles is a good offset for only 48 countermeasures and heavy airframe of Su-33
Unless PL-12A is godsent, i don’t see any reason to actually play 15T unless you are really into Carrier Aviation. 48 countermeasures without any dedicated chaff pods isn’t enough for top tier.
And even if New missiles are really great, playing J-10C at 14.3 would be wiser than this.
The problem I see is that its radar only has a ±70° horizontal tracking range, so it won’t be possible to notcing while simultaneously tracking and launching missiles.
That, coupled with the lack of countermeasures, is a death sentence.
It depends on how you play; even having 300 countermeasures doesn’t guarantee your survival. There’s nothing more effective than a mountain to counter a Fox 3. If people rely on countermeasures for their entire defense, that’s a big problem :/
Not every map has your buddy mountain to help you. And in general large amount of countermeasures just gives you more options. 48 isn’t completely unplayable, but you will have a lot of options just locked for you in terms of positioning.
With angle gating / uplook you need chaff and given that everyone has 8 to 10 missiles you often need more than 48. And not every map comes with a terrain cover. I just had 3 games in a row in flat plains with trees.
It is workable but you have to play strictly. Such as limiting WVR Combat because you have to give up flares for chaff.
Moving away from the combat zone is a solution that is also used rather than going in a straight line with all the missile alerts. Flying quite low also works
Loosing time and loosing time. No one says that you just have to fly straight. But having more countermeasures is always better than to not have more countermeasures.
