I’ve seen reports circulating about equipping the Su-30 MKK with PL-12 and PL-8B rounds. Does anyone know if other software modifications were made to allow it to use other Chinese ammunition like the YJ-83?

Source? All I see is no ground modes, no mention of only 1 DL channel.
VEP also has one datalink channel before upgrade lol. Just check radar manufacturer website
But anyways here’s the source for base n001vep having 1 dl channel before upgrade. Its logical to think that n001ve has only one datalink channel before upgrade as well if it even ever got upgraded

Well it’d be russian. And I doubt Russia needs a worse Su30SM. I would like to see some more unique vehicles and Su35 first.
If you actually look at Soviet and Russian radars in fighters it’s pretty much exactly as you say. I think they tried to make up for it late by making more use of ground radars
