Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

It is clear that it will not be bad. But against the background of electronically scanned radars, it will be much worse.

Well, it is comparable to the radar used by F-15E rn
AN/APG-70

Well, then it’s passable. The only thing that’s a pity is that the HMD is an ordinary circle. I would like something like Rafale, Eurofighter, F-15E/F-16C, because im really like SB

worse I don’t think, the Pl8B on an IRCCM more solid than the R73 but are slightly less maneuverable, personally I prefer that my fox 2 hits the target rather than it being hyper-maneuverable but after that it’s everyone’s taste.

irl the J-11B uses a domestic HMD, unfortunately we don’t have an idea what it looks like, not sure if any photos of it exists.

It should display speed and altitude though.

Well, at least they’d give me a copy of someone else’s… The circle looks just awful.

I found more information
It is domestic, but unfortunately it is similar to the J-11/J-11A HMS
Curiously though, the J-15 seems to use a more advanced HMD.

Yes, the HUD is inaccurate ingame
The HMD/HMS is still the old one though I think, a true domestic system was used in J-10B, J-15, J-10C, J-16, J-20/J-35.

pl8 if u had plenty of experience with it has one obvious issue, similar to most other non TVC missile, it takes a bit of time between off rack and able to manoeuvre, but as it is faster, in distance that is longer. And in game this means in a 2km fast head on engagement for instance, the missile would not hit a high off axis target. This is the exact reason PL8B was very swiftly replaced in PLAAF, as this was a common thing they saw in dog fight simulations. TVC missiles don’t have that issue and therefor are better, just simply easier to use and more likely to hit. PL8B in theory has better range but we’ll have to see about that. In top tier I tend to use HMD a lot, since most fights come in supersonic conditions and turning will almost certainly mean the pilot goes unconscious, (even if u have aced pilot). I just think R-73 is just that much better than any other IR missile, simply because u don’t have to turn and that is an edge over any other IR missile.

I prefer by far to play a PL5EII which is the fastest FOX 2 in the game and which has a more solid IRCCM from the front than an R73 which can be lured in a dogfight at less than 1km in rear lock, not all dogfights are spinning and we have plenty of opportunities to plan a FOX 2 which is not TVC, but after
this is my recentie via my gamplay I prefer a solid FOX 2 which has a hit probability of 90% than a FOX 2 THC has a probability of 60%, I had a lot more misses with the R73 and that PL5EII

I would wait for the PL10 to have a viable THC missile

Except that is not what the picture shows.

The pylon you are claiming can carry a PL-12 in this picture is empty.

I’m aware of that now, no need to point it out anymore.
It’s 6x PL-12s max

PL-8B with the new motor should take that title, wait for later dev servers ig

Some details regarding the J-16’s AESA radar.

Firse image is the rough arrangement of the radar (on the left is the front of the radar)

Second image is how much the radar flexes/changes shape under acceleration/aircraft maneuvers, and also the forces acting on it.

Third image is a close-up of the transmit/recieve modules

I’ve also posted this before, this is the flat antenna.

Leaving this here as well, clear photo of Type 1492 radar on a J-8F (?), the predecessor to 1493 on the J-11B.

You can even see that the antenna is made by the 14th Institute based in Nanjing through the writing, produced in 2010

1493, the current x-ray is definitely a placeholder for the J-11B.

Alright, copy and paste of the j8f radar will still be a good radar

1493 should be much better than 1492.
1492 and 1493 both have 6 datalink channel for Fox 3 missiles, but 1493 has much more power and subsequently, more range.
