From Christchurch NZ, I get 160 ping on the SA server and I’m a better player than most of the fools on the SA server. It works great. I recommend not joining battles that are already active, that might put you into NA more often.
Yes sir it’s pretty bad at that time, I know from experience. I don’t focus on high tier, ever. With 260 ping I can only play against fools from Rank I to Rank III. I might have to move to Europe or somewhere that’s near other countries. Living in New Zealand is so bad.
There’s no point in spending money on the game unless you play in the evenings. But the SA server is pretty good from early afternoon until late at night, we are able to enjoy the game, at least.
There’s not enough population in Australia or New Zealand to justify a new server. It’d cost thousands of dollars per month, but it wouldn’t make any money for Gaijin. The scale isn’t there. Only in Europe or North America or Asia can they make money. Look at the total north america and european population, and consider that a player in Indonesia can play on the EU server with decent ping. It’s only NZ and Australia that suffer from ping issues outside SA, but players in other countries often have a good connection to 2-3 servers.
I’m in the UK and I play the US server with good ping mostly.
Population of Aus and NZ is only about 30 million combined ,population of Istanbul alone is alone is nearly half that. It’s a real shame because this forum seems to have a good representation from down under which I imagine is in some way relative to the game playing population as a whole, kind of disproportionately high maybe. Real shame something can’t be done.
It’s odd that Gaijin don’t follow population as far as tech trees are concerned.South America,Turkey and India dont have servers of their own do they?
Today has been borderline unplayable on either EU and NA clusters. I hope another purge comes soon and better yet, they get their Asian server so we can finally play in peace.
South America doesn’t? I did not know that, some parts of India are in close proximity to China, perhaps that might help out. Turkey in particular Istanbul is in Europe so they are kinda close.
First off, 200 ping doesnt cause micro lags, anything over 350 does (in my experience), and secondly, theres already an Asian server, only issue is that its really unstable and it sucks. Also we dont want to be put in with all the Asians all the time (not being racist, again its mostly due to differences in ping)
I find that SA is a good server. I agree that NA should be able to play without all the Asian players, I play exclusively on SA and nobody communicates. I never see radio commands being used, and nobody writes in the chat (not even in foreign languages). These people are just bad players most of the time, whereas NA server people mark targets and warn their team mates.
To me Japan sounds much more closer then Germany, for Australia, or NZ, etc. Even the time zone is better for them. I understand some player with high ping , like Wifi-Soldier is just happy to get into a game, but saying 230 + ping is manageable is ridiculous for me.
Well SA means south east asia, so I believe the server is in Japan could be China. Otherwise, having one in Australia would be great, but again it all depends on the player base. If Oceania has a low player base in comparison to other continents then I guess we wont get one.
Geographically speaking no, but I am not sure where the servers are located, in the game we have the option to connect to the SA server, I presume SA means South Asia. Someone mentioned that gajiin has a server in Japan which is not far away from South Asian countries.
It goes both ways. You win every time there are CQC corner push battle (more and more matches are 10 IQ COD maps now). But we can win when lot of movement and steering at range, or when peeking hills/sniping (my preferred play style). BUt over 250 ping, that gets hard to hit a moving target.
I spent last year in EU/USA, so can talk pretty confidently about the difference between NZ/AU and EU/USA play experience. There I get 20-50 ping and it’s a massive skill upgrade/clean play/shot taking/etc, much more balanced.
But normally am in Oceania (where thread is about). Ping is to USA few years ago was 150-180 at early hours of morning when no one is using the main internet cable, goes up to 190-220. These days is mostly 200-270 and getting worse and more packet loss to Gaijin servers maybe because I see people mention west/east coast USA server, that explains my ping changing I guess, I’m mostly east coast now, which is so slow for anyone on this side of world. Please more west coast… it would at least help.
EU servers for me are nearly unplayable at 300+, I don’t play SA for a while but will try again…
And now imagine we have this 230 - 280 ping asians on EU servers. And this lagers are mixed with EU players with ping 30 - 50. It is just gaijins incompetence or lazyness, I do not know, or maybe just greed. But they do not play the game, they do not care, what they care for is our money, and only our money.
Mate I have been playing WT for 12 years at a ping of 220 to 270 on the NA server. This is actually quite normal for at lot of online games for us. Had the same pings with all of the World of crud games too. If I play on the SA servers my ping lowers to around 130 to 160 and to be honest I don’t do as good since I am so used to higher pings.
Packet loss is the most annoying thing and that is what I would like to be fixed first and foremost.
If you even slightly use wifi, that’ll be causing some of it.
From there, if you’ve got fibre vs dsl. Shared connections also are problematic. Used to get dropped out if someone sent an email with a really large attachment.
I wouldn’t even know how to connect to the Japanese server. I have been experiencing a lot of Packet Loss issues lately. It’s ruining the game for me. I may have to stop playing it
