I think the compensation should be proportional to the downtime.
Time isn’t really free though. You can also buy the event stages for GE, so there is a comparison to be made time = money.
I don’t think it’s something to be overly outraged over though, and some here go maybe a little too far.

If you don’t complete the event, what is the COST to you?
Exactly… It is a FREE event that bears no impact to you if you don’t finish it.
You have exactly what you had before the event… Kind of, if anything, you will have more RP into various vehicles due to the effort put in.
So again, why compensate for a free event? You don’t have to use GE, that is YOUR choice.
