wrong, 7.62mm (russian) APIT is the single best shell for any Rifle caliber gun
the gain from this is that you as a dev can now choose the Ballistics of the belt
have a Bunch of High Velocity shells mixed with Low velocity? want to make the belt better choose the High velocity shell first, want to make it worst then choose the Low velocity shells first
some aircraft use Practice shells (Eurofighter, Tornado, JAS39) even
Not sure how that is relevant to anything I said
HE shells can get eaten by the fuselage.
AP goes straight through and kills the pilot.
I’ve had quite a few cases of shooting aircraft from dead six wishing for APHE or AP shells because the rudder fuzed my shells without actually falling apart.
But the “other way around” - AP hits anywhere but pilot/engine, you’d wish you had HE. Anyway, I’ve been using pure HE belt with Shvak for veeery long time and I’m not complaining, the “plane doesn’t die from dead 6 shots” hasn’t happened to me in a while.
Theoretically true but practically HE is just going to shred a planes tail.
So having AP is pretty irrelevant since HE can still cause a kill quite easily.
In reality firing AP or HE is most effective depending where you hit, so mixing them together should yield the best performance.
But HE was turned into anti-everything.
It can’t penetrate armor or pierce a fuel tank but what the point when they can just rip a wing or tail with 1-2 hits?
Except when it’s made from wood.
Hit the wing of a Yak-3P with Hispanos and shredded like 80% of his wing.
Probably hit a spar so it fuzed.
Was trying to finish him off after seeing how he was still flying and saw many puffs of smoke on the fuselage where the HE simply overpenetrated.
In the end it took me much more to finish him off then from the single hit that took off his wing.
🙃
From what i have read, M-geschoss with tracer doesn’t exist.
For 20mm? No. (Except the long MX Geschoss L’Spur)
For 30mm and up, absolutly does!
3 cm M.Gr. Ausf.A has no tracer, but the Ausf.C does. Same with the early development variant.
Yes, my fault, forgot the OP is for 30mm.
Oh yeah, plywood bug 2.0
I am so bamboozled as to why did Gaijin set plywood to 0,001mm steel equivalent or something like that. 0,001mm would be weaker than wet toilet paper, I think holes would be made by looking at it too hard or breathing in general direction of such aircraft.
Edit: 0,001mm is 16 times thinner than standard weak as hell aluminium foil. So yeah, GL with that.
