Wasnt sure, as a quick google says 0.94, but I think thats the Gripen NG
Most likely.
NG has a better TWR than the E, it weighs a tad bit less. .94 is the standard Gripen iirc
isn’t ng basically a c?

Spoiler
A few NG’s were put up with the Gripen E engine before the Gripen E was made. Theres quite a few NG models, again there inconsistencies with trying to get any specific one down as again, we have NG’s with the new rear wing design, then we have them with and without the IRST sensor. Its hard to get accurate info on the NG as a whole as some of it is just all over the place.
Do you know which ng was trialed for the mmrca competition? it was the indian one that eventually picked the rafale
No idea, more than likely an earlier NG, as there was a document talking about the NG having below 1 TWR, which was then later changed in another doc mentioning it had above 1. Again its hard to track any specific NG down.
Thanks, i understand now, so basically there were gripen c with gripen e engines that were also called gripen ng and then there are basically gripen es that were also called gripen ng.
If theres a list out there of the NG models and the differences between them id love that, it’d be interesting to see what the changes were between models, again its strange we will see NG’s with certain main line things like IRST but then see other NG’s without it. Seems like SAAB was just all over the place trying to figure what they wanted.
U think gripen will come in next update 🥹 I will not grind the new f18mlu2 if it’s coming
I think either next update or next winter. At best, next update due to this aircraft wouldn’t be that hard to be implemented thanks to the existence of early Gripen. But it maybe can come late in winter, because even Gripen would be still considered slower than other Eurocanards, but its BOL Pod still a menace, and with Gripen receiving Avionics that will be comparable to EFT and Rafale (which is MAW and better RWR Coverage) makes Gripen would break the game even more.
But again, maybe they could release it in the upcoming update, and only receiving the better armament later in the winter.
Rwr should already cover K band but Gaijin refuses to implement it.Also Gripen NG’s airframe is much bigger than C model which will force them to remodel entirely.
Well I don’t think they will remodel it entirely, we got F-2 and there’s not much different than F-16 other than its aerodynamically better for turning.
Let alone the C could also get MAWS
BOL is artificially nerfed
640 BOL is still a menace compared to 112 Large Calibre Chaff. The only thing BOL is underwhelming is when you try to chaff a missile at closer range. If it was assisted with a good MAW Coverage, it will be far more easier to macro chaff due to how abundance it is.
gripen a/c geting maws would be nice, although I don’t think it’s all aspect
no maws is a seperate add on to the bol rails
personally i dont think it’s worth giving up a missile for it
BOL is still nerfed through the floor. Its IR performance is so bad that its hardly worth taking them for flares (the very thing they are renown for) and yes, the chaff works, but like you said, is uselessly weak at closer ranges.
Whilst aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon can mitigate these weaknesses with internal CM loads for flares and raw FM to compensate for the chaff. They still feel the nerfs from both. I bully the living hell out of Gripens when I encounter them by specifically firing an AMRAAM at them knowing they’ll probably not be able to defend.
But the more important reason to fix BOL is everyone else. The Harriers, Tonkas, Viggen. These aircraft dont get the same luxuries and the lack of proper BOL cripples them. They should never have artificially nerfed the performance of BOL. Only restricted the number of BOL that could be taken on the Gripen from 4 down to 2.
