SAAF JAS-39C Technical Data and Discussion

Depends on the sophistication of the airframe I should think.

I know this thread is old, but it would appear the AOA toggle on the SAAF JAS39C doesn’t affect the aircraft whatsoever, whereas on the swedish models the AOA toggle makes a noticeable difference. Not entirely sure about other exported models (Thai, Hungarian)

Wanna send some clips to show your point? Also makes it easier to bug report

turns out theres already bug reports on all of them

Links so we can get more attention on them?

(JP) The Thai JAS39Cs AOA toggle does not function. // Gaijin.net // Issues
JAS39C (Exported models) AOA switch not working // Gaijin.net // Issues
AOA toggle doesn’t work on JAS-39C(South Africa) // Gaijin.net // Issues
SAAF(UK) Gripen’s AoA limiter does not working. // Gaijin.net // Issues
JAS-39C (SAF, Thai, & Hun) AoA limiter toggle does not work // Gaijin.net // Issues
No response given on all of them it would appear

Tbf the AOA is incorrect on all the gripens and isn’t worth using to begin with imo. 33° is pretty mid considering the vehicles we have at the same BR.

The Gripen can pull more than 90 degrees of AOA, proven by this video

Well… that’s the A version with a prototype FBW with a bug in it. The 33 deg is still to little though:

Just eyeballing the image it seems to be statically unstable up to ~40-45 deg and anything more is statically stable with automatic recovery logic.

They won’t accept it. They chose to go with the inaccurate report put in a while back that I still hold grievance for. Not just that, but they chose to keep taking a hatchet to it because it was still outperforming the Americans and Russians. So it is well and truly below even the report with sources that hold less than credible provenance.

It makes me quite sad.

You may be a touch mad. Gaijin forced me to shorten “Fluffy Bucketless Pocket Dragon” because character limits when I started, so it is “Fluffy_Bucketles” from the start.

I wish I had your hope, but they really seem intent on killing the platform’s agility.

I play sweden air, mad is an understatement, mentally insane is correct though on the lighter side.

It wouldn’t be so bad if the Gripen wasn’t butchered, or if we got NG/E for fighting the newer kit, but it’s rough, so I stick to ground strike in a su 30 😿

Hey its fine, sweden is getting another 400k rp sink for 1 difference so they get a F18 thats on par with the US one and at a higher BR. (Cries in worst subtree to exist)
