Sure that’s my bad, I was trying to address the claim it didn’t have a gun. But I could’ve been clearer. But yeah the situation is more nuanced than your typical pilot interview will allow for. Operational clearance is always more ideal because it means we’ve got all the process for using the weapon, maintaining the weapon, training on using the weapon etc etc all worked out. Emergency clearance is more akin to “put ammo in it, press this button to fire” ahaha.
Sigh first figure out what Gripens in game have. Second find out what nations have MS20 Gripens. The amount of people that don’t know (or blatantly ignore) the MS of the Gripem are why we have these weird hybrid abominations in game.
Additionally last time i checked MAW is only on the Gripen NG and the E.
Edit: Internal MAW is only on NG and E. ESTL pod is for the MS20 Gripens and uses a pylon we dont have in warthunder thanks to the gripens being a mess. The ESTL pod may fit on the other stations but ive only seen it on one pylon.
Your fact sheet is MS20 BTW.
SAAF Gripen is not MS20 nor has it ever been and essentially in the wrong chat. Any other Gripen thread would be better since all other nations use MS20 aside from SAAF.
I blame both, the devs didn’t know and are to embarrassed to admit they screwed up. And the people who do (minor) bug reports spend maybe 2 minutes checking google. Again the MS was only really mentioned on the swedish threads. Again its strange to me people dont assume that there are different C models.
I am fairly certain that the ESTL pod is fitted to the outer wing pylons meaning that it takes up a pylon for missiles. I think I read that they use the AIM-9 and AIM-120 system interface. Doubt there is another pylon just for it. I guess it could fit on the wingtips as well.
This pod is modular too so you can swap out the different modules like the MAW sensor and such for other things, not sure what the other things could be but maybe extra EW for planes that don’t have any.
