Ukraine will receive 16 donated Saab Gripen fighters from Sweden once it finalizes the first stage of a deal to acquire new-build Gripen Es…
Receipt of the donated Gripens as bilateral assistance depends on export approvals and finalization of an agreement to acquire an initial batch of 20 Gripen E/Fs, which Ukraine plans to fund using €2.5 billion from a broader €90 billion European Union loan package.
It would include armaments like meteor, iris t etc…
Why? The Swedish military hasn’t even looked in their general direction, and gaijin doesn’t tend to give Sweden anything unless provided with a 12 page essay with APA referencing and a hard-copy of the original blueprints.
Unless ofc Russia gets it because it’s for Ukraine (still doesn’t make sense), in which case they will have all of the missiles it could theoretically use, including the NATO-exclusive Meteor, and only 6 months later will the actual operators get it.
Believe the Arexis has been the only EW suite within the Gripen airframe. It could just be they’ve removed certain features but we’ll have to wait for more details on that.
There isn’t much info if Brazil uses a different EW system as all info I can find currently refers to the Arexis EW suite, unless a new article comes out.
I did find that Brazil has their own datalink system, Link-BR2. I wonder if it might have to do something with the design, but with how the Gripen can integrate a lot of things, I wouldn’t think it would be too much of a change.
I wonder if the 39F will come in as a tech tree. I’d still like to see them finish off the SAAB-105 line, though with the 39D being a squadron vehicle, makes me beg to differ.
Doubt, gaijin will probably just give it to someone else, besides a gimped Gripen E would be even more oppressive to play. Kinda like the Gripen D with one of the worst KDs because it’s placed at a BR where it’s vastly inferior to its contemporariesalson105 line is likely dead end since the XT will likely never be added same with Finlands actually unique hawks.
