The 1954 EBR was even more OP on release (4.3 iirc) than the BMPT ever will be. The only reason it wasn’t talked about as much was because it:
- Wasnt from Russia. Anything good Russia gets will have community meltdowns because people have internal biases against Russia.
- Wasn’t a high tier vehicle. People only care about 10.0+ it seems, and it shows.
- Wasn’t an easily purchasable premium from a major nation.
Imagine facing a highly mobile tank with 6.0-6.3 level firepower in your M4A2. It can also out reload you, out maneuver you, and negate your armour. Closest high tier comparison would be the CV90120 if it was 10.X.

OP in the hands of a skilled player vs OP in the hands of everyone doesn’t equate the same.
You add the EBR '54 as a tech tree vehicle at its old br and it wouldn’t have done nearly as well statistically, CCs inflated the demand after the event ended, but in reality it wasn’t that common, and was moved ridiculously fast
BMPT however was added as a tech tree & premium which means everyone and their dog can get their hands on one, and it remains insanely well performing statstically.
The EBR was never remotely as oppressive as the BMPT by sheer nature of design, you’re comparing a light tank with an autoloader against a top tier tank with IFV armament.

Initially it was locked behind an event, and now it’s locked behind the market.
It’s not readily accessible if I open a new account and don’t want to spend over 150€ on gjn
The event didn’t recieve much reception at all for the EBR since the ground branch was fairly unpopular, i remember more people going for the PFM than class 3p

BRs aren’t changed just because one player does well in them.
Case-in-point: Jagdpanzer IV and F-18A.
Just because I know they’re OP, and I perform as they’re OP doesn’t mean everyone else does.
So those OP vehicles don’t change BRs.
So the Object 279 went up for no reason then I assume, your logic is flawed if it states that a small chunk of the playerbase abhsing a vehicle won’t cause it to go up in BR.
The EBR 54 (and for another example, CL13B in italy) never dominated or oppressed the entire BR range like the BMPT, and that’s just blatantly obvious given the difference in size of the player pools of these vehicles.
An OP vehicles in the hands of tech tree and premium players (in the 2nd most popular tree in game too) has far more match presence than an equally powerful vehicle in a minor nation, let alone a minor nation event vehicle.

You mg the ebr though? like it was fast and annoying but it wasn’t going to end an entire game by itself, much less could it hold w. The trade off was much like the m18 it was horrible armored and had even worse survivability, if somebody remotely looked in its direction it was over for the tank.
I don’t think all that bias allowed you to perform any better though.

It’s also funny that he has ~1.45 K/D in XM246 and ~1.93 K/D in T58 which are clear outliers when compared to his average. What’s even funnier is the fact he’s defending T58 at 8.3. Isn’t it crazy how bias opinions turn on a dime when we aren’t discussing a certain nation ?
US bias is surely helping him in his 8.3 punisher lineup.
