Now I love naval, but can we please start showing some of the many World war two era props that you’re DEFINITELY adding this update right?
I mean the Roma carries a seaplane, so does that count?
This is my fear. That we’ll get an artificially nerfed Roma because lazy.
It would if it had it’s own dedicated devblog!
But all these ships have propellers :P
So happy they added this ship sadden to see it will be overshadowed by paper Russian boats.
gahhh
Long discussion of Littorios’ armour scheme and the effects of spacing and foamed concrete -
(spoiler alert - not enough known about foamed concrete effect on the required gap between armour to enable decapping)
Also discussion of hte video at Littorio class space armour explored - NavWeaps Forums
Just another wave of players who will eventually be disappointed by gameplay, it repeats every time they add bigger ships. Hopefully next type of vessels should be missiles ships and submarines, which will certainly change naval battles in one way or another.
How about implementing already existing ‘concrete’, though it would be much better than foamed concrete XD
like this?
It’s a foamed concrete that is designed to use the spacing to decap rounds. It’s just that they say “spaced armor” in the devblog and that isn’t really accurate either. Spaced armor would need a much larger space to decap 15" rounds (the design specs) hence the concrete. The concrete is supposed to multiply the effect of the too narrow space. I don’t know how they model armor pen exactly, but I suspect decapping rounds doesn’t come into it. I’m hoping for a multiplier of some sort for the concrete. If they give it .35 that’d be something. We won’t know until we get to the dev server.
I know that - it is explicitly explained in the video I posted.
Sorry about that. I realized I was answering a question that wasn’t asked AFTER I posted.
Yes that concrete. So 150 mm of concrete would mean 52.5 mm of RHA, quite effective.
On the other hand If that 150 mm is just ‘air’, air is 0.05 RHAe on ground, so it would be only 7.5 mm of RHA.
Doesn’t Roman Concrete have a different multiplier to modern concrete? :P
high quality post
real shame that the naval gamemode is so far in its grave
Navweaps lists them for various ships but not Roma:
but none of the other 120mm guns are said to be on Roma either
For those not sure what we’re talking about, here’s a pic of them on a model of the ship - either side of hte lighter coloured AA turret:
found this on another discussion about Italian starshells:
According to “The Littorio Class - Italy’s Last and Largest Battleships
1937-1948”, Bagnasco & de Toro, in addition to the 240 rounds illumination
rounds carried for the dedicated 120mm illumination battery, 50
illumination rounds per gun were carried for the 90mm guns as well. There was apparently
an illumination round for the 90mm. It is not categorical proof that
illumination rounds were carried for 90mm guns aboard Italian cruisers, but
it is inferential in that direction.
