Reclassify the m18

Okay that does not mean that the m 18 couldn’t also be in That same category

The M18 I feel could use ammo box since there isn’t a specific reason to nerf it like that, especially if it loses artillery strikes

Personally i dont think it would affect it rhat much

not really, but the m18 isnt special enough for special treatment compared to other TDs

There’s no reason to reclassify the M18.
It’s an excellent tank in War Thunder, acting as both recon & tank destroyer.
If you have evidence IRL crews never used the M18 for recon, I’d like to see it.

Classifications are subjective, both IRL & in-game, and are as accurate as any other within reason.

I never said that it wasn’t used for reacon but all i want is for it to be called the correct thing

Both are equally correct.
M18 is a light armored fighting vehicle.
It was used for “light tank” [recon] duties, as well as “tank destroyer” duties.
Neither exclude the other.
That’s like saying F-4C is a bomber so it can’t be classified as a fighter, both are equally true labels to apply to the vehicle.

Incorrect. The M18 GMC was a tank destroyer irl. It utilized speed over armor but it always was and should be a tank destroyer. It makes zero sense being a light tank when it never performed light tank duties

M18 crews in USA [and export countries] performed recon duties using M18s during WW2 and in wars after WW2.

“Light tank” also doesn’t mean just recon duty, as Walker Bulldog also performed “tank destroyer” duties.

Did they remove the BMPT’s ammo-box? Last I checked, it had one.

Drop the idea that a light tank is explicitly about recon. Light tanks are a tank made to use mobility. Notice the part “tank”?

The M18 is a Self Propelled Gun, not a tank. The M18 is more akin to the M10 GMC than it is to the M41

Pretty sure they did so it lost a whole 4 ATGMs and it was serious nerf

They do have box tho

They do? I remembered it losing it. Sorry if I said something wrong then

Ye I just checked it in game. Im pretty sure they have condition like
if (class = td):
hasAmmoBox = true;
Without being able to select specific vehicles. Lazy approach considering jadgpanzer 4 or smth like that has 70 max shells without box. And some vehicles outside td class need that box more than that td.

M18 fits your interpretation of light-tank.
This semantic argument your posts push for won’t work, because all tanks are guns that self-propel…

Whoa, that’s news to me. You mean tanks move? I can’t believe it!!!

tanks are meant to support pushes and help out infantry. SPGs are meant for taking out pillboxes, knocking out tanks, and indirect fire.

there is in fact a difference.

Hey Rooster! What was the Hellcat officially classified as in the U.S. Army and what units received hellcats during WW2?

The US specifically labelled it the M18 Gun Motor Carriage, not Tank, M18

it also was put into anti-tank and SPG divisions.

why do you ask?

I don’t usually have to many gripes with your hot-takes, but this one is extremely blatant. Going off of that extremely simple definition then anything can be classified as basically anything. It entirely ignores the concept of doctrine.

Which in this case of the M18 boils down to it being a TD, from its very inception to its primary use on the battlefield. Any other services it might’ve given were purely by coincidence, not design, and should not be taken as arguments against its correct classification in this game as a TD.
