R-27ER buffed to unrealistic performance a day before release

Fly low and you good.

Is it at realistic that you can break the lock and lock the Target later so that the 27ER can be shot basically as TWS?

Technically. You should be able to fire all missiles without a lock

its not unrealistic, look this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urL9PKusXho&ab_channel=FlyAndWire

yes, but the big question is, can the missle Lock the target again afterwards?
The missle has a Mem of 4 seconds, but if you interrupt the lock Manually, the missle is trash, as far as I know

what does the video have to do with my question?

where did you get that 30 r27er missed and only 1 barely managed to score a hit ? . are they are r27r/er or were they export variants and where did you get this info ?

I can’t remember which war (maybe the Gulf War?), but there was one where 24 R-27ER’s were launched and only 1 hit its target. Searching up “R-27ER 24 launch 1 hit” or something might get you what you’re looking for

If I recall, the R-27 is a maintenance heavy missile and a lot of countries that bought them tended to just let them rot. The US is the same way, their missiles require constant “preventative maintenance checks and services”… this is something we do even on our tanks. You let them sit… they rot. They need to be constantly tested and ran or they tend to fall apart.

These poorer countries were not used to the higher level of complexity and care that the R-23/27 series of missiles needed and as such they were found to be less reliable than expected… but certainly not worse than the Sparrow depending on what conflict we are discussing.

I’m not even sure why this thread is still open, the missile is performing accurately according to primary documentation.

I mean yeah, I’m just providing what I could remember about what he was mentioning.

I don’t get this part, though, it seems to be massively overperforming in terms of maximum velocity and mach number; it’s got a maximum velocity of 1750.0 m/s and has a Mach number of 5.75M in game, yet I haven’t seen anything suggesting more than 4.5M.

Using the 1750.0 m/s value, we can determine it can go 5.141M at sea level. The thing isn’t supposed to be hypersonic.

The stat card maximum velocity isn’t for sea level, it’s the maximum launch speed and maximum altitude scenario. It doesn’t ever reach those speeds in normal use / matches.

Whats the maximum speed it can reach on sea level, guessing between Mach 3.5-4?

2.1-2.3 mach at sea level and up to ~2.4 ish at 1,000 meters from 1.25 mach launch for R-27ER.

Feel free to do your own testing

No need, i didnt know exact numbers so was just curious, thanks for the info.

lets not forget how he does not bring up the awfull hit chance for aim7’s

yea aim7e performed much much better in game in 2020/2021 , compared to vieatnam but he wasnt complaining back then but now he is.
