I think this is a great event! I’m a massive fan of the sport (a diehard Red Wings fan, which has been a a struggle for years to put it lightly) and a fan of War Thunder. Ovi is a great player (happy to say I saw him play in person in several games during the 2005 IIHF World Junior Championships) and his 895th goal was an incredible and historic moment to watch on TV. He’ll net many more, too, before he hangs up his skates for good.

But shouldn’t those achievements not still fit the theme of the game? There have been plenty of men and women who have achieved fame during wartime for their heroic acts, and I’d honestly rather see them featured in these mini events than peacetime athletes and such.

Russia hasn’t had much by way of hockey victories lately due to their teams being blocked from the major international tournaments. This is a pretty big deal there.

I’m sure it is, but I’m not sure I’d like to see such non-military events and people take center over ones that actually fit the theme of the game. If Gaijin wanted to do a hockey-style event similar to Tank Football, hey, I’m all for it.
