Predictions for Upcoming Fox-3s (AIM-120C)

Military propaganda tbch, and the range is sort of subjective based on what aspects and variables you use

Hope they model everything right this update

What about R-77PD?

Ram jet is a little advanced for the current game

But perhaps at some point

This definitely

I’d appreciate the source for this

Gripen, as it was on dev server.

It shouldn’t though, as no Gripen under SA used it

But it was integrated, It’s on the list of compatible missiles. It also never used AIM-9L/Ms on SA service but got them anyways.

Usually gaijin goes based on what aircraft actually carried, but in this case I suppose they will go with the documented ability

-1 for putting NATO names before the name from where these RU/CN missile from

I really hope they add the AIM-120C-5, going off of every other missile that’s being added that’s the bare minimum needed (going off of the Modern ARH thread):

  • AAM-4 - Possibly better speed, same everything else
  • R-77 - Better maneuverability, same everything else
  • MICA EM - Better speed, worse range, better maneuverability
  • Derby - Worse range, worse seeker, same everything else
  • R-Darter - Worse range, same everything else
  • PL-12 - Better seeker range, same everything else

I wouldn’t say that. While I’d say AAM-4 is still AIM-120C-5 equivalent it was designed with a different design philisophy in mind.

The AAM-4 is a faster and more agile missile than the AIM-120C-5, offering a larger seeker as well as a larger, directional warhead for increased lethality.
This comes at the cost of not quite matching the range of the AIM-120C-5, and the weight and size limiting the carrying capabilities of aircradt using it. An F-15 for example can carry twice the amount of AMRAAMs as it can AAM-4s.
Another issue with it is that the missile requires J/ARG-1 transmitter on an aircraft to use it, which is a large and heavy system that is part of the reason why the missile was not integrated with JASDF F-35As.

Basically AIM-120C-5 is more versatile and user friendly, while AAM-4 makes up for it by being more target unfriendly

I agree with your list though, seems weird to have only base R-77s and AIM-120Bs with AAM-4 and MICA RF.

So gajin no problem add AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM this year. right ?

I have a hunch that AAM-4 better AIM-120A & AIM-120B AMRAAM, Rb 99, R-Darter, MICA EM, Derby, PL-12 and R-77.
But AIM-120C (P3I) coming to next major update ?

SAAF Gripen C. Never used it IRL (I think), but oh well.

We should also get Aim-120Bs on the Sea Harrier FA2 and Aim-120C5s on the Tornado F3 FSP and Typhoon

Fair enough

I have my doubts about it being better than MICA RF, which is a TVC dogfight capable missile that I feel fits the games meta a lot better than AAM-4 will. It will have its clear advantages, but at best be a tie since MICA RF seems to be very well suited for the games engagements.

The German F-104G and F-4F didn’t use the AIM-9J. Why people are still saying “x didn’t use y and thus won’t get it” is beyond me.
